CANNOT IMPORT VIDEO FROM SONY HANDYCAM DCR-SR72E TO APPLE MACBOOK PRO (APPLE MODEL 2009)

    Dear
    Sir
I will check the link you supplied. Having previously spoken to Mac support they seem to leave the issue with Sony who do not supply software to enable compatability between this product and the Apple Macbook Pro.
I may yet have to go the long road of importing to PC or external source and from there to the Apple for editing.
If you have any further advice please respond.
    regards
    Con

Hello :

Did you install the software that came inside the CD the first time when you bought your HANDYCAM . if not , then install it . If it's not supported by your MAC OS , then just look here http://www.sony.co.uk/product/sdh-hard-disk-drive/dcr-sr72e
If that didn't help , then just save the videos on an external memory adapter and add them to your PC .

good luck .

I want to transfer video from sony Digital Video Camera Recorder DCR/TRV25E to my Macbook Pro. The camcorder uses Mini DV and I have a USB connection between the camcorder & Mac. Please let me know...

Hi - It's pretty easy. You would use the I.Link (Sony calls it) connector which is actually fire wire. So you would need a fire wire cable (about five dollars or so) between the camera and Mac, load up the built in Imovie software and you'll be ready to go.
Here's a link to a good video tutorial demonstrating the process.

If your cam has a firewire connection, you could plug it into the macbook and use iMovie to transfer the videos over. You can also get an external DVD drive to put those tiny DVDs into to transfer it over.
