Try changing the balance control, as offset to me would say the balance is one sided.

I need information on what wires use fuses on a sony cdx-4000

Hi there,

You may find your Sony unit has the fuse built-in to the back of the player - hence, modern units no longer require an in-line fuse in the wiring.
yellow = 12v constant or battery power
red = 12v switched or ignition power
black = 12v ground or chassis ground
blue = power antenna turn on
blue/white = amplifier turn on
white = left front speaker +
white/black left front speaker -
gery = right front speaker +
grey/black= right front speaker -
green= left rear speaker +
green/black left rear speaker -
purple = right rear speaker +
purple/black= right rear speaker -
lt blue= cell phone mute input
Hope this helps...

When the radio is switched on, the speakers crackle then after a while the display shows failure and then the sound is clear

Check all speakers are still working you will find might find one isnt.

The message Failure means a speaker or amp incorrectly installed.

MEX-BT5700U, no sound in speakers in CD source, tuner source OK.

What many people do on this model is connect the remotes wires improperly. Use the solid blue wire for the amp and the blue with white stripe for the connection to the car.

Sony Car radio cd bt5000 with US steping !!!!

I don't believe this is a user adjustable setting (at least it's not documented). Chances are, it is set within the firmware of the unit itself. Versions of this deck sold in Europe probably have a different version of firmware, allowing 0.1MHz FM increments. You might be able to talk to the European arm of Sony's support and ask them about updating the firmware to the latest European version. Keep in mind, putting EU firmware on a deck that was supposed to be used in the US could cause problems.
