Question about HP Pavilion dv9730us 17" Notebook PC - REFURBISHED
If the LCD screen is not physically broken ie a cracked screen then it could have a faulty inverter or a faulty CCFL lamp which will give you a black screen. The inverter and CCFL lamp is a lot cheaper to replace than a complete new LCD screen.
