Hobsrt Mixer problem

You may be correct about a loose spring. Check this:

Carefully lay the mixer on its back side to access the bottom of the mixer. Remove the cover screen covering the opening in the bottom of the mixer. Using an extension and appropriate socket, be sure the nut of the bowl lift rod is snug, slightly compressing the spring of the bowl lift rod.

What'd ya do to that poor little workhorse? You need a Hobart service guy. The power is not getting from the switch to the motor. Could be a disconnected wire (on the simple side), could be the start capacitor. Did you turn the timer on? If you don't the mixer won't run! That is a 220V, don't stick your hands in there when it is plugged in.

how do you know diagram is wrong , you could have wired it wrong the timer kit i belive comes with 3 or 4 different diagrams for that mixer you need to pick the right one

call Hobart for the correct oil any way and an elcetrican will just add more problems for yoy

Hobart doesn't release their service manuals to the general public,however i'm a hobart tech and repair these mixer's often.If you need any help let me know.

take top front cover off see if motor is spinning when turned on? hum can come when motor is running or transmision jammed or motor has issue like capsitor bad or start switch inside motor bad.

Hi, it is hard to determine exactly what the problem is without seeing it, however, that mixer usually uses a capacitor to help start the motor, and a switch, or relay, that are in the back of the unit. You probably will not find any troubleshooting guide, Hobart does not give up information easily. You can take it to an electric motor repair shop, and they will easily be able to tell which of those is the problem, and will be reasonable in price. Your other option is to contact Hobart locally for service assistance. Maybe one of the other Hobart techs here can help you out more.

On the newer A200s, there is a reed switch behind the solid portion of the bowl gaurd. On the cage portion there is a magnet embedded in a plastic holder. Without it, the mixer won't run.

is there a bowl cage on the mixer?if not bypass the timer and see if it starts.
