Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console

1 Answer

Comes on and starts to play and then video goes

Comes on and starts to play and then video output becomes scrambled and can not see anything. If I turn it off for a couple of hours I can turn it on again and will be able to see video for about 5 - 10 minutes.

Unfortunately it sounds like you may have fried the the Graphic Processer on the system. So tests you can try to confirm this would be is if you are using the HDMI connection then switch over to the AV connection and vise versa to see if you have the same problem.

It is also possible that you are having a problem with the Operating System on the PS3. So you can go to this link below to help you put the system into recover mode to reinstall the OS on the PS3.

After doing this and you still have trouble then you might check to see if you local repair shop can do anything for you. After the above it you still had trouble I would try the 'Yellow Light" fix to see if the issue is related.

Also on a side note if you get this system working or get a new system I would double check where you have the system sitting because if it is not getting enough air this can cause the system to over heat. If the system is over heating this can cause the problem that you have.

Let me know if you have any more problems or questions.

Problem with video, i get garbage on the screen and then dissapears

Not too sure what you are trying to do with video, but here goes i'm guessing you are trying to watch some sort of video media and it looks all scrambled or just totally unviewable, my guess would be you are using a video format that you don't have the codecs for if this is the case you would need to download a set of codecs and install. I have used a set called (kc light) which comes with windows media player classic and i have found this player to play almost anything the only thing i am yet to try is a vinyl lol but if this seems to be your trouble then here's the location to download it for free.

hope this helps please rate :)

Video output issues

this is probably a problem of the relays - yes, there are small relays inside to switch the video in/output.
In this case i think the contacts are the problem. you cant open the relays, so they have to be replaced...
better solution: use a better videostandard such as component or hdmi - do not use the receiver to switch the videosignals, use only for sound...

1/3 of picture becomes partially scrambled

sounds like you have a frame fold-over fault, does banging the tv have any effect (slightly bang the set on the sides), if it does then its more than likely a dry joint, check all around the frame output chip, hope this is of some help to you
