i cannot get it online as it won't recognise my wireless netgear router, or my old wired modem

    Hi,
it is an IBM Net vista 8307 with a socket 478 pentium 4 2.4 ghz cpu installed.

I have spoken to IBM , and as it is out of warranty, they will not support it, or "sell " me a driver disk ( which i think is shoddy customer service)
" it" stands for IT ( you know information technology) department

    hi again,
the video is on board its intel extreme graphics -
i have wired my netgear DG384 wireless router with an R45 network cable but when running the netgear setup wizard it doesn't see the router -( which i know works ok as its also connected to this pc i am using now)
i do have some usb functionality as the there is a usb keyboard and mouse connected that work ok. i am presuming that i need chipset drivers - the link below is the drivers screen from ibm - which i have installed all of them - but still to no avail

What's the MAKE? Mercury? ASUS? INTEL? What?

Any recent motherboard CD with drivers should have any of the old drivers you need. Also, if you load XP it willprobably have all the drivers you need for the old MoBo, then you can look for drivers as you go after XP isolates the ones missing from its libraries. Again, if you load XP and don't have them all, automatic updates online will get you drivers updated, or you can manually tell XP to seek drivers online. All this depends on if you can get online with your modem or other means after loading XP.

    Good luck Kipper! :)

Download the Lenovo System Update program : (see support in www.lenovo.com ) In this section look for download system update wich will install an agent (3,4MB). Then, it will scan your system and give an status for all required drivers to install in your pc (related to Main Board, principally)
Well, check out some interesting programs, like Rescue and Recovery (my favorite).

Good luck!

It matches up exactly with an IBM Net Vista machine. Go to the manufacturer and get the proper driver, ditto on USB and ethernet. Each of those components should be identifiable in your system / hardwear area of Control panel. These all were mentioned with Vista so I take it its not old? But I also saw some Socket A boards mentioned and those are a bit long in the tooth. Pentium 3 vintage. Your router problems I don't understand but maybe its time to chuck that. What would help is a post with more info, I can't tell what does not recognize your router with you calling the object "it". Sorry, Hermit65 has you on the right course. Good luck.Have someone burn the drivers to disk and forget the modem/router for the moment.

Thanks I understand "it" part now. Are you using a video card or onboard graphics, same with the ethernet, is there a R-45 connector on the board you are using or do you have a PCI card for either wireless or wired net connections? What I am thinking is this, are all 3 set properly in the BIOS? Do you have any USB functionality? Let me poke around a bit and see if I can find something to help. When you say your router is not recognized what exactly do you get and from whom in the way of an error message, is it just the IBM web site?

Kipper, If you follow this to this web site you will learn a lot about your board but in a Nut Shell it seems that Lenovo now manages this and the Net Vista was terminal and part of what was a thick, thin set of devices and yours was aimed at banks. Much more than a "Dukmmy Terminal" of the mid to late 80,s the Thin terminal would be one of many terminals in a bank branch office for example. It could do pretty much what a PC did including calculations etc using its own OS, but everythintg would be saved back in the home office on the Thick part of the pair, Maybe an IBM AS400 or something. Because it had its own processing power it was much faster than the old "Dumb" terminal hooked to a mini or main frame. That is about what I know of those, some crude definitions for you. You have a thin client terminal that can work as an independent desk top. When you mentioned Intel Extreme Graphics it came to me that it may well be an Intel board and therefore have the Intel USB, Ethernet and of course onboard graphics. That appears to be the case. I looked on the Intel site and all is there but may not be called by the Net Vista name. To Intel just a board with the componets. They have a utility that can scan the board and should tell you the chipsets and drivers needed which they should have. You may have to look in the archive/discontinued section but they should be there. If not try the closest thing they have and it may well work. Or go to a driver web site and they should have. But you should be able to get the OEM model numbers from the Intel site. This should fix you up but if not let me know. I trust this is new and useful information to you and wish you luck here. I will be glad to do what I can if you run into problems.

Kipper, read the good news. I thought that should help you. With so much third party equipment going into the machines I found out I get newer and often better function by going direct to the manufacturer and not rely on the system builder for the latest and greatest drivers. But in any case glad to hear you are up and running. The Pentium 4 you have is reliable and surprisingly fast I think. I had the 2.66 version in a Dell 4600 and was satisfied with what is could do. I just missed thew hyperthreading model which was kind of like dual processor. Not nearly as advanced but not bad. Anyway glad to hear your problems , for the moment, are over. I downloaded and looked at the software updates on the Lenovo site and was more informational than anything it was outdated and geared toward the banking business. Nothing I would have used.

I had a drivers licence in Lousiana in 1981, i need to get the licence number

Drivers License information was not available on computers in 1981 so the State may not have your old number. The only way to get it is if you can remember the insurance company you used then. They kept your drivers license information written down in your file. Insurance companies throw nothing away. It may take some doing, but your old insurance company is your best bet for obtaining your old number.

Problem installing Windows XP with Asus P5RD1-VM series mothboard

Hi!
You need to copy the SATA drivers from the motherboard CD into a floppy diskette.
When you are booting with the windows xp installation CD you can see a message that says:

Press F6 for raid drivers

Press that key so windows installation CD look for the SATA drivers.
