IM GLAD YOU SAID THAT BECAUSE ...I JUST INSTALLED A FRESH COPY OF WINDOWS...WHAT THE PROBABILITY (IN PERCENTAGE) THAT IT COULD BE MY esata CABLE RUNNING FROM MY HARD DRIVE..?

  • knightrider9 Feb 05, 2010

Ok, i bought it online ...without anytype of windows installed..the hard drive seamed to be diconnected because the windows recovery cd would not load...After i reconnect the esata cable it worked..But now when it freezes i open the computer up and unplug and reconnect the esata cable and it works...This type of computer it comes withe optical drive stuck together with the hard drive and i think the vibrations from the optical drive are lossening the esata cable..So i dont know if in reality its the hard drive or the esata cable...

Hi,
First thing I would consider doing is a full reformat and fresh install of windows. If you have a recovery partition on the hard drive then install a fresh copy that way. It is possible it just an issue with windows. If you still have problems after that then you may want to consider replacing the hard drive.
Thank you,
Lee

    Hi,
Anything is possible. Is there a reason why you think it is the hard drive cable? How old is the hard drive? Did you have the problem before you installed the fresh copy of windows? After you installed this fresh copy the problem still persisted? Once I have more information I can assist you further.
    Thank you,
    Lee

Hello :

While computer is starting just keep clicking on F8 repeatedly .
A screen of booting choices will appear . Just click on [Safe mode ].
Now you'll be able to log into your system but in [Safe mode ] . Now you need to restore the system to a previous point (time) , as it was working well .
Don't know how to restore , then I'll tell you .

Just click {Start} on the taskbar .

then [all programs] just keep moving up to [accessories] after that [system tools] . there you'll find [restore system] .

Just restore your system to the previous point (time) you like and problem will be solved .

If that didn't solve the problem , then enter in the [Safe mode ] again and just scan your system for viruses . Some viruses can cause such a problem .

good luck .

How to remove hard drive from acer aspire x3200

Remove the cover/side panel on the case to get access to the components inside the computer.
The SATA hard drive is secured to the disk drive bay with 4 screws.
Unplug the SATA data cable and power cable from the hard drive, then remove the 4 screws securing the hard drive in the drive bay.
The hard drive can be removed from the drive bay.
Reverse this order to fit the hard drive back inside the computer.

Acer aspire x3200 problem

sounds like Vista or Win 7. it usually meant that one of the 6 Registry Hive files was corrupted.(usually the "System" file, as it typically gets modified the most.)you don't say what ver windows you have, but when Vista or Win 7 detect Hard Drive errors, it will begin a CHKDSK /F on the boot disk, (without telling the user, of course...nice huh ?) This could easily take an hour depending on the amount of data on the disk.
Although it COULD be a virus, it is far more likely that some of the recently occupied sectors on the hard drive are bad or weak.

I recommend a CHKDSK /R be done on the boot drive. This is a more complete check of the drive (it will check all of the 'free space' as well,) and if it locates any 'bad' or inconsistent sectors, will mark them as Bad, and remove them from being used. That should be enough to halt future problems.....though this is no guarantee that more sectors will not go bad in the future.

The computer acer x3200 goes dead and wont come back on unless the power cord is removed for a few seconds when it goes dead it is as though the plug is out

Your power supply is going bad or there is a bad start-up capacitor on the motherboard that's bad. Replace the power supply or have it tested from a qualified technician. If the power supply is good, then the motherboard has a bad capacitor.
