Question about Toshiba 57H82 57" Rear Projection Television
a ) Sometimes it happens , presumably it is caused by these transistor
these Q683 mutes pin 11 of IC TA8216
b ) if trying to unmute using the remote wont do, you may need to
temporary extract these transistor for the process of eliminating
c ) If it works, then " b " ( base of transistor ) is high, or you
can use a multimeter to measure voltages on the base of the
d ) There could be other causes like the Audio IC ( TA8216 ), which is
less likely , although possible .
e ) if you have a signal tracer you can verify audio signal from pin 2
of the Audio IC if the audio signal is present.

Look in the customer menu for what may be advanced audio choices--some of these sets had a feature called steady sound or something similar---background will be louder than people speaking.
In some versions it is also called hall effect, etc.
Let me know what the options in the 'AUDIO" and "THEATER" MODES are as it has to be one you changed.
