Thanks for using FixYa. To reset the Laptop to factory default settings you’ll need to use the Dell Factory Image Restore in Windows Vista. But please note that it will erase all existing data including files, folders, programs, drivers, photos and e-mails. Therefore, it is recommended that before you start PC restore please back up all the files to avoid loosing it. Please follow the step-by-step procedure to reset it---

Turn the Laptop on. Immediately on start before the Windows log appears press <F8> on the keyboard until the Advanced Boot Options menu appears on the screen. If you do not see the Advanced Boot Options menu then restart the computer and repeat this step until you see the menu on the screen. Now press the <Down Arrow> on the keyboard to select Repair Your Computer on the Advanced Boot Options menu, and then press <Enter>. Specify the language settings that you want then click next. Log in as a user who has administrative credentials, and then click OK. Click Dell Factory Image Restore. In the Dell Factory Image Restore window, click next. Click to select the Yes, reformat hard drive and restore system software to factory condition check box and then click next. Now the computer is restored to the default factory configuration. When the restore operation is completed, click finish to restart the computer.

If still the issue is not resolved, then please visit Dell Support link---

Access is denied is typically a security/sharing violation. If your on the administrative account on the 7 machine – adjust the security of drive. From my computer right click on the drive go to properties. You will have to click on each of the user groups and modify the security settings you wish. Also on the advanced tab should be an option to take control of the drive.

Deny access to drive hoocked to my Belkin N+

Windows security is too easy to get around. The best way is with a drive management program like MioNet, then give each file or drive a different password.

I am trying to set up another computer but cannot connect even though it shows the network available. How do I secure the wireless network?

Is this router set up with any security on the wireless? With a wired connection to the router, log in to or as needed to access your router. Once you are logged in, go to the Wireless section (the SSID, or name, of your network) and, if you have not already, set up Security. I prefer using WEP-PSK[TKIP] for its ease of use. You will need to use the new passcode to log on to your router from wireless computers. Anyone that does not know the passcode will be denied access to it.

The hard disk in drive D: is not accessible

I recently had this problem. Whenever I clicked on any of the drives a window appeared with warning which said drive not accessible. Access is denied. Previously I thought that it is a virus which has edited my registry and is not allowing me to enter or even view my content. So I formatted the whole system but that didn't help. Now I am sharing this with you.
  1. Open My Computer. Goto Tools>Options. Goto View Tab Pane. Uncheck the last Option in the Advanced Setting which says Use simple file sharing(Recommended). Apply the setting.
  2. Open the properties window of the drive you are unable to access.Goto Security tab pane.
  3. Goto Advanced.
  4. Now click on the Owner tab pane.
  5. It's very rare that the ownership of the drive changes. But it happens once in a while.
  6. So if you are the user say Admin then select Admin(ComputerName\Administrator).
  7. Click on the box which says Replace owner on subcontainers and objects and click over Ok.
  8. Apply the changes.
  9. Now you should be able to access the drive.
