In the device manager I can see my Atheros AR5007EG wireless Network Adapter however the wireless icon on the toolbar has an (X) denoting it is not connected. The popscreen message says one or more wireless networks are in range but when I click on the msg balloon to view available networks it doea not reveal any networks, the wireless button on the laptop is on

I already have all the drivers from Toshiba's website and all works just fine except the wireless network icon appears with an (X) over the icon, however the pop-up balloon alerts that there are 1 or more wireless network connections available....when I click on the balloon the network page opens but no wireless networks appear.....when I refresh the page, again no wireless networks appear

Realized that while loading drivers the wireless network button on the laptop was in the on position turned the button to the off position turned of laptop removed the battery held power button down for a few seconds turned laptop back on then the wireless connection worked fine using Tobisha ConfigFree options

You can download the drivers for your laptop from the link below. Make sure you choose the correct driver for the service pack you have on XP. You should download the Atheros wi-fi driver.

Hi,
What is the exact problem you are having? When you install the driver is everything recognized? Is the the wireless turned on, on the laptop itself? Please give me as much information as possible and I will be able to assist you further.
Thank you,
Lee

Have you tried running the Wireless Network Setup Wizard? If you go into device manager everything is working? If you see the wireless icon then it most likely sounds like you just have an issue with finding the actual wireless network. is your wireless router set up correctly?
    Thank you,
    Lee

Installed Xp pro on Compaq F750US and everything works except mic

When you go to hp.com, you need to ensure that you are downloading the driver for the appropriate operating system. You have to indicate whether you have the 32bit or 64bit version. It matters very much.

Downgrade Acer M1641 from Vista home premium to Windows XP

Its a driver incompatibility issue. Many hardware components designed for Vista are incompatible with XP. This means that the Realtek audio driver may be the Vista version. Also, some hardware has of yet no XP drivers, so your audio components were designed for Vista only.
While it may be possible to "force" the driver to work, it may involve a number of hacks to the Windows registry and other files.

Vista to XP downgrade

If you did a clean install of Windows XP Vista has nothing to do with this problem. I infrequently have problems with Dell drivers not working but when I do its because I've installed the wrong ones. I have gone down the wrong troubleshooting path several times because the driver said it installed correctly..... I noticed that when you go to the Inspiron 6400/E1505 download page (http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/index.aspx?) you have the choice of selecting drivers from lots of OS versions including both 32 or 64 bit versions of XP. I would verify that you have the write driver versions and try again. Another alternative is using the drivers and tools CD that typically comes with a Dell. You can run that and it should have XP drivers. If you don't have the disk you can also try getting the network card running, connect to the Dell site and running their driver ID wizard to ID the drivers you need. Let us know if you have any other questions and please don?t forget to rate this post.
