Indesit wg1234t wont spin

I have an Indesit WG1234T washing machine which has stopped spinning!!! It still pumps the water in and out but just wont spin. Someone told me to change the brushes which i did but now i am wondering if i fitted them correctly. Is there anywhere i can get a repair manual from or a diagram of how they whould be fitted???

Same problem here with Indesit wg1234t

Looking through consumer forums, many people have the same problem but no solution seem to have been found.

Is it a case of binning the machine and purchasing a different make?

I'll try the solution listed below. Sounds like i also need to check the carbon brushes, where are they?

I also have this common problem with my WG1234T. - The pump still works but the motor no longer spins. The brushes have a ton of life left in them. I tested the motor by connecting directly to power and it spins so the fault is most likely with the 'controller' unit - i.e. the switch/timer device behind the program knob. This device was not really working perfectly before and sometimes caused erratic working but I think it has now died altogether. I'll try to get it to bits to fix it as I don't believe you can still get a replacement controller for this machine.

I just wanted to add: If you do think that your motor brushes are at fault, you can check them on this motor without even taking it to bits. Just lift the carbon brush carefully with a screwdriver. If there's plenty of carbon there then they are fine. Just fit new ones the way the old ones were fitted. Most motor problems with this model are actually due to the controller/timer unit - which seems impossible to replace as it is no longer made.

RIGHT - I now have a proper solution for this fault - at least I found why my machine had failed and completely repaired it in minutes.

    1. - Disconnect the mains lead.

    2. - Remove the back cover of the WG1234T Indesit washing machine - secured by 3 screws.

    3. - look inside the machine, down into the bottom left corner as you look in through the open back. You'll see a plastic housing with a clip holding a circuit board in place, to the far left of the motor, near the pump. Pull/push the clip and withdraw the circuit board, which is the motor controller board.

    4. - Disconnect both plastic plugs and look at the edge connectors on the board. On my machine, one of the power tracks had melted at the edge of the board, where the smaller connector plugs on.

    5. - I solved the failure by soldering a short piece of insulated wire from the edge of the board to further back on the track, thus making a new edge connection where the old track had melted. I plugged the two connectors back onto the board. As soon as I powered up the spin cycle everything was now working, including the motor!

    6. - Test the machine on program 7 - spin cycle. Wait for at least 30 seconds to give the timer a chance to switch the motor on.

    7. - If it works now then clip the board back into place, close up the back of the machine and 'Bob's your uncle!'

If the board edge connectors are OK but the motor does not spin then just check all over the board and try to bridge with medium thick, insulated mains wire any burnt tracks. I believe that the controller board tracks are just not thick enough for the current they carry and can eventually burn away after years of use.

This method should work for most of these Indesit machines which have stopped spinning. Sometimes the motor control board might be too badly damaged to bridge the tracks etc - perhaps Indesit might still have some of these boards lurking around?

Anyway - If anyone has this fault and needs further advice, email me at: cj.mckay@xxntlworld.com - but remove the 'xx' which I have inserted just to trick webcrawlers etc. I fixed my machine very quickly and maybe I can help you to do the same? I'm no great engineer but I can tell a motor from a pump etc :-))

Thanks CJ I was about to go out and buy a new washer. Thought I would just have a look on the web and got the answer i was looking for from your good self. Yes it was the motor control board and yes the tracks had failed. I did what you suggested and soldered a short piece of insulated wire to the track 5 min and all was well Looks like this is a Fault that can be overcome with a little know how no big deal for most folks Thanks again Birdie

Where can I buy a door lock mechanism for my Indesit WG1234T washing machine?

Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,

Spares Suppliers
You will need to type into your search engine/web browser '(make model number) washer spares' and you should be presented with a number of sources from which you can order. Alternately you could try telephone directories for spares suppliers but I would think the former would be more successful.

If this has assisted you please consider a 4 thumbs up for the rating.
Thanks and good luck!

Indesit WG1234T - is there a filter and spin cycle not effective

If there is no filter located at the bottom right front of washer behind a re- moveable cover, then you need to remove the rear cover of washer.
Locate and remove the large black hose fastened to bottom of drum.
Remove and clean plastic filter inside hose.
Remove hose onto pump, and check for blockage or obstruction here as well.
This should help solve your prob.

Indesit WG1234T washer drum not turning

hi there..by the sound of things, the brushes on the motor are worn out.easy to replace, each brush is secured by two screws at the rear of the motor, and will be black in colour,or a reddish colour.it may be easier to remove the motor to gain access.buy a cheap set from ebay,as generally speaking a repair and spares shop will ask four times the going rate.anyhow, once removed there should be at least 7mm of carbon left to make contact with the commutator(the part of the motor that turns)
hope this helps,steve.ps.the belt could have snapped or come off also....

Washing machine wont spin

It is unlikely to be the motor faulty, if it will wash but not spin, check the pump filter first to be on the safe side, if that does not solve the prob, then remove motor and check carbon brushes in motor, as this can often be the cause of the prob.
Also check the water level switch pressure chamber for a possible partial blockage, as this can give the same sympyoms.

Plz rate my solution.
Thanks
