Question about Sony STR-DE945 Receiver

1 Answer

My Sony receiver is blowing the two fuses on the DC(1) BOARD as soon as you turn it on. Also there is some discoloration in the area where the group of resistors are next to the three fuses that is on the DC(2) BOARD. None of these fuses are affected. Everything else seems to be working just fine. What could be the problem.

Hi,

a ) Blowing fuses on the DC ( 1 ) Board means a short on the load.

Most likely the output stage.

b ) Have the component extracted and recheck if fuse still fail.

c ) If fuse now is OK, you need to check for output offset voltage.

d ) Let me know if I can help further after you have started probing around.

Find out which supply lines ( B+ and B- rails ) go to different sections,

Disconnect them and connect them back one by one.

When it acts up you will know what circuit block the problem is

in. This would at least narrow your search.

    hope these helps!

Blown Fuse / SX - 205 / Pioneer reciever

Check the area where the fuse was...it's usually marked on the board or next to the fuse holder. Check the size also, 2 types 5x20mm or 1/4x1 1/4 in. Usually slow blow.

Have a da555es stereo receiver. Fuses blow as soon as you plug it in to wall socket. Receiver is approx 10 yrs old and just started doing this. Any ideas?

If fuses blow out imediatelly its a sign that its something wrong in the imput area eg the power pcb or transformer pcb. try to see is there in its supply some electronical parts broken or some bad wire isolation.

I have a Sony STR DB930. Something happend and it

The fuse blowing is a symptom of something seriously shorted internally. What preceded the initial problem? Smoke is bad. Fire would be soon to follow without the fuse blowing. Take it to a tech.

Did you check the six 3.15 amp pico fuses on the D board in line with the resistors and the two 5 amp picos on the G board? Usually one or more of the Picos will blow especially on the G board

Cobra 75 wx st fuse keeps blowing. As soon as I plug the transceiver into the connector box the fuse blows.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check the reverse protection diode, D18 (1N4004). It would be located / connected at the power board of the DC connector.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Sony STR-D565 fuse continues to blow

You could have a shorted winding in the power transformer. The diodes in the power supply can be shorted. Filter capacitors can short and send power to ground which will blow the fuse.

This condition, may be produced by defective components (Q506, Q507). you can remove those transistor, replace the fuses, power-on and wait for relays click. if the fuses not blown again, them replace both transistor.

Tv Problem

Sony TVs generate an error code. The front panel LED (red) will flash anywhere from one to eight times which can isolate the problem circuit. It is not always accurate.

If you have a test meter which can read DC voltages and resistance in ohms, you can locate the problem area. If you lack the expertice to do so, contact a sony authorized servicer. If you have the ability, start by checking fuses on the "G" board ( power supply board) and the "D" board or deflection board.

A major problem area in this TV is the convergence circuit. There are six fuses around the convergence output ICs on the "D" board.

If any are open, replaces the output ICs.

Blown Fuse

It's drawing too much power. Maybe a short in an amp. Do you have any warranty left? Double check to make sure you have the right fuse. You might also try a slow blow fuse so  you can turn it off right away as soon as the fuse starts to glow to help in diagnosing.
