What is working for sure, is to clean LR44 batteries from the finger grease with detergent and to install them back not to touch with fingers contact panels.

Hi, Im actually looking for instructions for this train online? cant find any?
But.... I think your problem may be down to the fact that the train itself has 2 separate battery compartments! one in the front carriage holding 2 x aa batteries [which powers the wheels and headlamp] and one in the rear carriage which holds 4 x LR44 button cells [to power the rc link and sound effects] not obvious.
What I want to know is what are the little black and red buttons for?

Changed batteries in Brio train (mighty red locomotive) and still does not turn on. It was used for about an hour and stopped working abruptly.

I had the same problem with one old locomotive. There are three things to check:
  1. the main power slide switch is set on the rigth position
  2. on the bottom of the loco, there a small red bump, it is perhaps blocked in the pushed position
  3. this one was the solution for me. Dismantle the battery cap and make sure that both metallical parts are in contact.

Remote control train won't work

The wires will have pulled off the circuit board inside.

Remove screws (force a hex driver in there) and solder wire back on.

Train surgey (geddit) is very fiddly. Have a drink first! ;-)

Brio remote control express doesn't move anymore

I wish I could help - I have exactly the same problem! Train opened Christmas Day, worked ok. Batteries seemed to gradually die 2-3 days later. Replaced all 3 sets of batteries twice, but nothing. Initially I got sounds, but nothing now.

I don't have a Brio triangular screwdriver

The battery is easy to replace. The screw is located in the black "smokestack" and will require a small size phillips-head screwdriver to unscrew. The rest is easy--lift up on the black smokestack (I usually leave the screw in place), and the two AA batteries are located end-to-end in the body.

Brio Mighty Red 512 - Battery help

Easy to do. You'll find a small phillips screw located at the bottom of the black smokestack. After unscrewing it, lift up the entire front black part and you will see two AA batteries inside the body of the locomotive. Careful not to strip the screw when replacing the black smokestack part, as it is the only thing holding it down!

Polar express battery powered wood engine works and then doesn't

Try forcing a tiny hex screwdriver in the triangular hole.

Almost certainly a lose wire that you can solder back.

A great sense of achievement will result given that you didn't have to buy another one from China and trash yours!

So annoying that Brio have to use these screws given how flaky their toys are - they are almost designed to fail as the wires are so short they break quite quickly.

Good luck!
