Question about Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium with Service Pack 1: Windows

1 Answer

Just before I finish installing my printer software, I get an error message saying "Another installation is already in progress." But there is no other installation running. I think it has something to do with a bug in Windows Installer. How can I fix this?

This did not work. The same error message came up at the end and the installation failed.

All you have to do is disable your anti-virus and firewall before you start to install printer software and driver.

I bought the HP Deskjet 5650, but I'm not sure how to install it to my home computer.

First find the installation disk that came with your printer in the box. Install the software by placing the disk in your CDROM of your computer and then follow the instructions on the screen. when the software has finished installing, connect your printer to the computer with your USB cord and the computer will automatically do the rest.

Some operating systems already have the driver for your printer and the software is not necessary. To check and see if your computers operating system already has the necessary drivers, just connect your printer via your usb cord. Your computer will recognize the printer once the cord is connected and you will see a pop up message around the right hand corner of the monitor screen that says "new equipment detected" and the computer will do the rest.

Good luck!

My computer had a virus. It is up and running now and I need to reconnect my printer. How do I do that without the CD ?

First check to see if your computer is able to auto recognize the printer and install the drivers and software by itself. To do this, boot up your computer and then turn your printer on and connect it to your system. If your computer can automatically sense the printer and install the drivers/software by itself, you will see a little pop up message on the bottom right hand side of your screen. It will say new equipment connected, installing drivers for use and continue with messages advising progress until completed and the printer is ready to use. If you connect the printer and your computer cannot auto complete the reinstallation process, then you will need to download the software and drivers from the manufacturers website on the internet. Unplug the printer from your computer and open the internet. Type in the manufacturers name in the search box area and open their website. Look for customer service, download drivers and software and enter your model number from your printer to locate the correct files.

Download the software and drivers by following the instructions on the screen and continue until it is finished. Close the internet and open the downloaded files and follow the instructions to install it on your computer. When the installation process is complete, connect your printer to your computer and it should automatically finish the process as noted above and confirm your printer is ready for use. Watch the bottom right hand side of your screen for messages on progress unitl its complete and then your done.

Try a test page to make sure your printer installed correctly and repost if you encounter problems.

Here is the newest verison of the the Nintendo wifi usb stick driver:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/onlineUSBDownload.jsp

And here is the manual that describes how to install the driver:
http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/systems/wii/en_na/connectingOnline.jsp?entryId=usbInstall

Not your only able to install unsigned drivers on Windows XP and Vista 32Bit versions.
64Bit versions of Windows XP and Vista won't accept unsigned drivers at all.
On windows vista and xp chose to continue to install te unsigned driver when windows prompts for it.

Succes.

Are you plugging it in before the software prompts you to plug it into the computer? If so it could be auto detecting and installing, so there is another installation in progress. I would unplug the printer from the computer and restart the pc. See if the software will install, when prompted by the installer plug it in.

In most cases when you go to install a printer your not supposed to plug it into the computer until about 3/4 of the way through the install process.
