- My Sansa e250 only has blue ring light on when I turn on the player. The screen has showed nothing. The Firmware Updater won't recognize my e250 when I connect with USB cable. The Window Explorer won't see the flash drive too.

I have downloaded recovery tool. I also reviewed 'How to use the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool' pdf file. I feel confused from the step 3 to push which buttons in order to display "Recovery Needed" screen. Do you know which button should I push on my e250?

Feb 22, 2008

- I'm not sure we are talking about the same model here. I have Sansa e250 which the power button located at left bottom corner. On the top of the player is a Hold switch. On the left hand side of the player is a Record button. e250 use its ring to control volume also doesn't have right button as showed in sdtep 3.
Any clue is appreciated!

- I have Sansa e250 which the power button located at left lower corner. On the top of the player is a Hold switch. On the left hand side of the player is a Record button. e250 use its ring to control volume. Also it doesn't have right button as showed in step 3.

Now I'd like to try to get the "Recovery Needed" screen. Please direct me step by step which button should I push! Thanks.

- When I connect Sansa with my PC I don't see 16MB-FORMAT drive in my Windows Explorer. I only see the blue ring light on. I can turn off the Sansa to push the power button for 8 second.

Feb 24, 2008

- The only thing that the Sansa e250 left is the blue ring light. When I turn the power on the blue light will on. If I press teh power button 8 second the blue light will go off.

I formatted the e250 and the software all gone not even can get in recovery mode. Is anybody know how to show it on recovery mode? When I connect e250 to my PC I don't see any 16MB-format drive letter. Thanks for the help!

People has provide the Sansa Connect Recovery Tool is for Sansa Connect, is not for e250.

Feb 27, 2008

- 1. My Sansa cannot get into recovery mode.

2. My PC cannot see the 16MB format drive letter on Window Explorer.

PS. I never put anybody negative comments here. All I need is help here!

You need to re-flash your phone.

- Here is latest firmware for your mp3

Feb 21, 2008

- If you need to try reinstalling the firmware manually. You can try using Recovery Mode.

To access Recovery Mode:
Turn on Hold
Hold Record
While continuing to hold the Record button, turn on the Sansa
When it enters 'Recovery Console (Mode maybe?)' release the Record button and insert USB Cable.
Drag MI4 firmware file into drive (the name of the drive in 'My Computer' is 16MB-FORMAT)
Disconnect drive
Turn off hold

In case you cannot perform the above procedure and your device is not starting at all, you may need to bring it to a service shop to have your eprom flashed again with factory settings. It should not be very expensive (25-40 pounds in UK)

- I told you
"In case you cannot perform the above procedure and your device is not starting at all, you may need to bring it to a service shop to have your eprom flashed again with factory settings. "

That was the solution.
Go to nearest service shop and ask, they will tell you the same. I wonder why I received negative feedback for that.

Verify if I was right or not.
In case I was right I will be grateful if you can give me adequate rating.

Many thanks

ps: 'Thanks for trying' means the solution had been completely unhelpful, it is a negative rating. If you rate all expert 'thanks for trying' they will probably close the thread.

- the problem where it would go to the sandisk logo and turn white then keep repeating, but it can be fixed.
call sandisk help line, they will email you two files which you will copy onto your player(when it is in recovery mode) and then you will unplug it. It will say that its is formatting for a while then eventually it will restart. it may work the first time but they say it might take more than one try.

if u r not able to reach then at help line, you can do it by yourself too.
perform recovery mode on the player and create a file named sansa.fmt and put that file in the 16 MB format that should reformat the whole player after you have put that file in the drive and unplugged the player from the computer. After that has been done try to update the firmware of the player.
this must solve the problem for sure shot.

thank you,

good luck.

Hi,

First you will need to update your firmware to the most recent published firmware available by going to the manufacturers website. I have provided a link below: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.as...

Once you click on this link you will need to download and install the software by clicking on "Download Sansa Firmware Updater" which is highlighted in red.

Then you will need to follow the on screen instructions to make sure the process is completed as instructed.

Once you have completed this step, try transfering the files into your MP3 Player. See if it will play them. If this does not work, try resetting your MP3 Player.

You can reset your device by going into settings scrolling down util you see the "Reset All Button",it will ask you to confirm scroll to yes and select it. This should reset to your original factory default settings.

Good Luck!

- Try changing USB modes. once you do this and you can successfully connect it and view the contents, Format your device, usually that deletes everything. Good luck

Back-up your music to your computer and then format your player to remove any bad or corrupt files. You should format in MTP mode to remove the DRM licenses. If you had transferred any music in MSC mode, format twice - first in MSC mode then in MTP mode.

- Hi again,

Its realy simple first hold the right button and then the Volume up button don't leave them. Now just press the power button on the top of the player once and leave it but don't leave the right button and the volume up button. The it will start and display a “Recovery Needed” screen.

Goodluck..

Feb 23, 2008

- Alright then try holding the power button which is in the corner and follow my steps which i told you and even if this doesn't work then press the HOLD switch which is at the top and follow my steps which i told you.

Feb 27, 2008

- Do you have any other PC at home?Try connecting your player to another PC.I am sure it will show up there.

Goodluck..

Get the firmware updater here: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1376

Run it with the player connected to your PC and it should update the player's firmware for you, should work after, can't promise if your music will still be there or not.

Also try the recovery tool here: http://www.sandisk.com/Retail/Default.aspx?CatID=1532

It will clean out your device and return it to factory freshness.

Good luck!

- Step 3 asks that you press and hold the right button on the front of the machine and the volume up button on the left side together and hold them. While still holding both buttons you are to press the power button on the top of the machine momentarily, don't let go the other two buttons. After a few seconds should see "Recovery Needed" on the screen.

If nothing comes up on the screen then I'm afraid the player is faulty, most likely its main board has a problem. Since it's not communicating via USB or showing anything on the screen.

Good Luck!

Feb 27, 2008

- I don't think the player will be able to recover. I think you're best to give up and replace the player unfortunately. Maybe think about getting the extended warranty next time, I usually skip it but wish I didn't when it could come in handy. If you purchased your Sansa with a credit card you may be able to get it replaced under your cards extended warranty program, look into it.

In your player's menu, go into Settings, choose USB mode, and change it to MSC. This will cause the player to show up in Windows as if it were a flash drive, and you can add and delete music by drag and drop into the player's Music folder.
