I would like to watch a video in my car but it says warning must set park break & my park break is set but it still won't start.

Pull the stereo out and look for the parking break wire on the back, take that wire and ground it.

Another way to bypass park break check

While installing stereo just connect e-brake wire directly to ignition wire (as far as I remember - yellow wire in standard ISO connector) So it is some cheat - stereo will think, that you are always using parking breaks. Do not forget about your safety :)

I am about to install my boss bv8962 unit into my vehicle but I want the parking break safety feature bypassed. What do I do differently during installation so that my passengers will be able to watch tv...

Yes, you can bypass parking break feature by connecting the corresponding wire of BV8962 to ground, also you could add a 3 pin toggle switch to get a normal and bypass mode switch, this can be wired of this way, the common pin of toggle switch to your video unit, at the other pin, it could be connected the parking break wire (normal mode) and the remaining one to ground (bypass mode).

How to bypass parking brake to watch videos on boss bv7940

***DISCLAIMER*** The parking break switch in your in-car video player is a safety feature that is required by law, bypassing or disabling this switch is NOT recommended by any means. The answer I am providing is for informational purposes, neither fixya or myself are responsible for any consequences of the use of the information herein.
there are two ways to do this, there are marketed products designed to do this that come with a few parts and an instructional dvd. Or you may purchase simply a toggle switch, and some wire, and do the following.
There is a wire connected from the back of the dvd player deck to the parking break indicator bulb or wire on the dashboard (the light that comes on when your parking break is on). This wire can be disconnected from the parking break lamp and attached to a toggle switch, and then to a power source (12v+). With most manufacturers there is a "code" to enable video. Generally it's something to the effect "turn the parking break on for 1 second, off for one second, and then back on, and leave it on". Whatever the code is for your unit, you may now do the same with your switch to activate video.

i have heard that many of dvd players have an extra wire and instruction manual tell's to connect it to something relaited with parking break (then you hold parking breake it gets ground and completes circut so video starts) so you can connect it to and ground wire with a swich becouse of that you can simulate paking break :) hope it will help :) i have the same problem but just haven't got time to test this :)

Video while driving

Yes, just did this myself with a Lanzar unit. Instead of attaching the parking break wire to the parking break, attach it to the ground wire or any other useable ground connection. Works great.
