Question about Kenmore 73932 Gas Dryer

1 Answer

My 110.73932100 dryer tumbles but has no heat. I do not have any service manuals, so I don't have any spec data, but I was checking the components that I could see for continuity/resistance. When I checked the igniter, it was open circuit. My question is should the igniter have continuity when not in use?

Wont get hot

You might think your heating element number 5 is bad but it could be number 11 or even number 8. Any component in or arounf the heat chamber can be the culprit. This is the famous slopefront dryer (circa 1999). It looks purty. To access the innards you first remove the door. Then you can pop off the front6b47d0c.jpg Then you can remove the shroud and the drum. Give it a good clean and check for broken components. Spec and ohms readings an a bunch of more purty pictures can be found in this printable manual I loaded onto google docs for you:

My Maytag dryer tumbles but there is no heat.

check your heating element and thermal cutoff. Check the breaker on your house make sure both breaker to the dryer is on. Check your cord that connects to the back of dryer. If every thing is good then you will need a service tech.

Bosch tumble dryer, model wta 4100 , no heat, otherwise all OK

If the dryer isn't heating, check for a blown thermal fuse or a faulty heating element. Both components can be tested using a multimeter or ohmmeter. Check for continuity. A lack of continuity indicates a faulty component. Both components are located in the rear of the dryer. The thermal fuse is about an inch long and is usually attached to or near the exhaust duct. Hope this helped and best wishes.

Won't dry

The problem is most likely a blown thermal fuse or a bad heating element. The thermal fuse should be attached to the duct just inside the back panel. It is about an inch long. The thermal fuse and the heating element should have continuity, therefore they are simple to test with an ohm meter or multimeter. If either component does not have continuity, then that component will need to be replaced. Hope this helped, and good luck.

The tumble dryer is working but not heating??? cleaned all filters and water tank. any ideas???

A tumble dryer that isn't heating up at all needs checking with a continuity test meter. The most common cause is a heating element failure, or t.o.c's going open circuit. Some tumble dryers have heating elements that are easily accessible by removing the back panel, and can be tested for continuity or checked for obvious breakage. Others though have their heating elements inside, which aren't accessible without stripping the dryer down. Tumble dryer heating elements are always protected by thermal fuses which are usually simple devices with 2 wires connected. They can be tested for continuity with a test meter. In your case it is better that y ou call in an engineer to test it. Also overloading and blocked filters can cause the thermostat to cut out and they can also go with simple wear and tear. Check your service manual for spare parts etc

Dryer tumbles, no heat

Fist thing to check is if the manual reset on the heater box has tripped. That dryer can be serviced from the front. Also, there is a heater upgrade kit that can be purchased from Fisher Paykel Parts that has several updated parts in it for the top load electric dryers.

There are several things that can cause the reset to pop out. You may have a lint build up behind the shroud where the lint bucket fits.

This is a complicated appliance. You may wish to obtain a service manual for it.
