Question about Brother HL-2040 Laser Printer

Makes click a clack noise and toner cartridge wont come out!

Click a clack... Quite loud. Toner cartridge wont come out. I did manage to get it out by dismantling the printer. Put it back in and same problem. The cover for the toner wont open either. The small arm on the left seems stuck. When I took apart the side of the printer the arm seems to go to a circular guide and had come off... Looks to be that it pulls something out of the cartridge when the cover is opened. That is the area of the clanking sound when I try to print... Time to just toss it out? Already tried a new toner cartridge.

Same problem, clacking sound, front door will not open, due to jamming of left connector.

Just installed a new toner cartridge. Paper kept getting jammed. Printed again and the loudest clacking noise started. The print job worked but now I can open the toner door/drawer.

Toss it.

These are 'disposable' printers. You can get a new one for less money than it would cost to fix.

Why Samsung CLP-300 Printer making annoying/loud clicking noises?

So try to get the black toner cartridge out of the Machine. On zhe backside of the Cardridge is a gear. Try to turn the gear, maybe the Toner inside is clump together. When you can turn it very easy in both directions it's fine.

Usually most of the noises are within the toner/drum unit. HAve you tried another drum/toner. Noises are funny because it's hard to pinpoint exactly where they are coming from!

LOUD GRINDING NOISE

The black dust is toner. Be carful as it is carcenagenic (dont get it on your skin) you will need to dispose of the leaking toner cartridge and get a new one. also you will need to clean the printer very carfully to get rid of the spilt toner. A combination of spray duster and a toner hoover are the best way. do not use a normal hoover as you will kill it.

It is always possible that you have done serious damage to the printer using a non standard toner cartridge. I would recomend getting a qualified person to give the printer a good service.

Samsung 3160N - clicking sound but printing okay

Check the toner cartridge make sure it is all the way in. Also full out all those toner cartridges and check the gear that rotates when you print see if there is no broken teeth. This happens on mine too.

The Cyan toner cartridge is jammed, it needs to be taken out and try and move the white plastic gear round a bit to free it. It normally is very stiff and wont move much, but if you can move it a fraction that will do. One thing, did you overfill the cartridge with toner? sometimes that will cause them to seize up.

Sharp AL1642 CS Copier Grinding noise and Paper Jams

Loud clacking sound, jamming in fuser ? sounds like the gear that turns the fuser are bad and not meshing together,
accordion jam is the fingers or claws that ride on the fuser roller are probably worn out ( these can be replaced usually 3-5 ).

You can buy the parts and replace them yourself if a handy person, not that difficult.

Samsung 3160fn all in one printer. making loud clicking noise when printing

Here's what I posted in regards to my CLP 300 which had the same problem. Might be the same thing??...
...
Mine did this after I replaced a toner cartridge (the round ones). Here's what causes the loud clicking:
Some (most?) replacement ink cartridges have a little square chip -- like a mini circuit board -- on them which gives the printer information about how full they are. This is located on the insertion end, right next to the round black thing with the little gears on it.
For the cartridge to go in all the way, and allow the gears to properly "seat," the square "circuit board" needs to "float" just a little on the spongy thing it's attached to. So when you push the cartridge in FIRMLY, the gears seat, and the "circuit board" will end up getting pushed in about 1/16 of an inch.
I think what happens in some cases (at least with mine) is some cheap replacement cartridges don't let the "circuit board" push in at all, which means the gears don't quite seat properly, and, as they are trying to connect on the printer's gear receivers, they are constantly connecting and disconnecting, causing that loud clicking noise.
On one cartridge just pushing in the "circuit board" really hard freed it up and allowed it to "float" (be pushed in little when the cartridge was then inserted). In another case, I ended up getting a butterknife and prying off the circuit board (breaking the plastic or glue seal that was holding it) then setting back in, on top of the little spongy sticky thing it's supposed to float on.
In both cases, the cartridges were then able to go in all the way, and the clicking noise stopped.
Hope this helps!
;-)

Loud clicking noise

Power the machine on with drum and toner removed, check for noise....

It will be either the Fuser, Toner or the drum.

If it is non gen. or refill toner, fault found.

The drum is a normal consumable that you change every 3 to 4 toner cartridges, so if any of you have used more than 4 toners and havent changed the drum, I'd say that we have found your problem.

......now to the hangers on .....

Fuser, thats the hot bit at the back, these have a gear that cracks because the whole fuser assemble is old, brittle and stiff, you can pull it all apart and change the gear and be off, but soon it will more than likely break again, I know cause if I do that as the fix they come back within 6mnts.

Replace fuser, or have it replaced

Fuser is a HiVolt, HiTemp part. Caution!!!!
