Wow, this is old. That said...

If this video is stored on flash media, it should already be digital, thus transcoding not necessary (in fact, it would reduce the amount of visual detail in your recording, especially if done badly).

Normally, connecting a USB cable from your device to your computer will allow the device to be viewed and the files to be copied. Depending on the container and codec Insignia uses, you may need an alternate player (VLC, perhaps) if quicktime won't play the videos.

Consumer recording devices are notably inefficient, though, and ultimately you would probably benefit from transcoding your files as @Chris mentioned if space is a concern. I just wrote up a little something on compressing home videos.

Good luck!

The best solution I have found for Mac is to use either Handbrake or FFmpegX. Both are free transcoding applications on the web.

Perform a Google search, download, and start transcoding.

Handbrake I believe is all-inclusive as a single installable package.

FFmpegX requires you to download libraries and create relationships between the App and these libraries so it's a little more challenging to work with.

Hope this helps!

With which computer operating systems is the GRHD1 compatible?

The GRHD1 has three sections: HD/SD (high definition), DV (digital camcorder) and DSC (digital still camera). The still section, (thru USB), should work with Windows ME, 2000, XP or MAC. HD/SD would only work properly with Windows XP. DV section would work with Windows XP as well as MAC. Please note that GRHD1 is ONLY fully compatible with Windows XP. All other operating systems may, also, work but it is not guaranteed.
