M460 means nothing as far as failures, it is a designation of a style of timer from Midwest timers. If you had no heat it could be the heating element, a safety limit, a control problem like a burnt timer contact, or an electrical problem. A heating coil is used to warm the clothes as they get tossed gently inside the drum. A blower mounted on the motor pulls air through the heating element into the drum and out the exhaust. The element gets old and briitle with use and eventually needs replacement. That is what you check first. On gas dryers vibration and age will cause the igniter to crumble and fail. If it turns out the element is fine then one of the safety's might be blown. These safety's are set to a certain temperature
for the dryer to operate safely. The drum temp control for cotton is 160f. A limit on the heater housing is 250f. If it fails another smaller limit is mounted nearby that blows at 300f. If that temp exceeds 350f a duct fuse mounted on the blower housing opens and kills most dryers. On gas dryers the duct fuse will kill the gas assembly but the dryer will still run. If all of those safetys are good the timer could be the problem. The timer has a terminal on it that runs down to the heating element. If you suspect it is bad you can check it with a meter. That leg of the timer should have continuity with other terminals on the timer at different spots on the timer. Turning the timer and checking for continuity will give a clue. If you cannot get continuity with any other terminal on the timer at any position on the dial then you have a burned contact in the timer. If that turns out to be good, you would need to inspect the electrical outlet for proper power to the machine. On American models the motor runs on 120 volts but the heating element must have 240 volts. If you have more questions just post a comment. Good luck on repairing your machine. Bought a new dryer timer. The recommended part for Kenmore dryer model 110.97281100 is WP3398190. The old timer model is M460-G and 3391658. Things do not line up exactly.

From your description, it seems you do not have an exact replacement. See what www.searspartsdirect.com has to say. Don't be surprised if you get several different answers.

Old whirlpool thin/twin Dryer timer old timer M404-G New timer M460-G how to hook up

The problem as stated is that the new M460-G timer does not have the same pins as the old one (because there seem to be a variety of sub-models under the M460-G name). However, I have successfully (at least to provide the timed heat function) used a different M460-G on my Frigidaire Crown Gas Dryer M/N FDGB23RGS2 . To do this, I had to figure out the terminal functions by rotating the M460-G switch and measure with ohm meter and also by inspection of a wiring diagram at appliance pros dot com
On Frigidaire Crown FBGB23RGS2 Gas Dryer:
The original M460-G is wired:
Terminal / Function / Color
A / Gas / Org
B / Line voltage / Red
c / Motor / Wh
Timer wired between TM and C
AD / Auto Dry / Pink
TD / Start Switch and Motor / Tan

On other M460-G Gas Dryer timer (from mystery Dryer), I wired it to into my Crown dryer as follows:
Terminal / Function / Crown Dryer Wire color
BU / Line Voltage / Red
BK / Motor / Wh
R / Gas / Org
V / ? / No Connection
Timer wired between TM and BK
WB / switched on while Motor & Gas / Tan
OR / ? / Pink (figured it was safe)48146720-bbc3-47da-833c-6d50a0cf5df0.jpg

Where would I find the fuse(s)? , on a M460-G Elec Kenmore dryer?

Check the circuit in your main breaker box that feeds the dryer, I had this happen to me, and that was my problem, reset it, and the problem was solved for me. Good luck

Need to replace my dryer timer M460-G

The problem is that the new M460-G timer does not have the same terminal letters as the old one (because there seem to be a variety of sub-models under the M460-G name providing varying options such as an "air dry" function). However, I've at least been able to provide the basic timed heat function using a different M460-G on my old Frigidaire Crown Gas Dryer M/N FDGB23RGS2 . To do this, figure out the terminal functions by rotating the M460-G switch and measure with ohm meter and also inspect wiring diagram (mine was at appliance pros dot com).
On Frigidaire Crown FBGB23RGS2 Gas Dryer:
The original M460-G is wired:
Terminal / Function / Color
A / Gas / Org
B / Line voltage / Red
C / Motor / Wh
Timer wired between TM and C
AD / Auto Dry / Pink
TD / Start Switch and Motor / Tan

On other M460-G Gas Dryer timer (from mystery Dryer), I wired it to into my Crown dryer as follows:
Terminal / Function / Crown Dryer Wire color
BU / Line Voltage / Red
BK / Motor / Wh
R / Gas / Org
V / ? / No Connection
Timer wired between TM and BK

Hotpoint dryer model M460-G is not putting out any heat when i try to dry my clothes

First make sure you have a clean vent all the way thru. If it is it is possible it could be the heating element or a bad thermostat. BOth will require taking apart the back of the dryer. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE DRYER! You can get shocked real easy!

I have a whirlpool dryer M460-G (SN#MH4612126 ? LGR7646EQ3). The dryer does not heat up. I checked the back and cleaned all the lint. The gas ignites and heats some time but not all the time and when it is...

Replace your gas valve coils!! They will allow the dryer to heat initially, but fail after about the 3rd or 4th iginition sequence.
Part number 279834 and are around $20.
They are located on top of the valve and held on by a steel bracket with two phillips head screws. Plug and play wires you cant mess up.
Fix it up!!
