Question about HP Pavilion dv1000 Notebook

1 Answer

Display I bought a hp dv-1000 thats 1-2 yrs old from a family member the screen had been cracked. I replaced the screen and then the display invertor. I can also hook up a hdmi cable and can see with another monitor but the laptop screen still only displays vertical lines of different colors and the bulk of the lines are on the left side of the screen. Let me know if you have any ideas. thanks

Patch for tiny holes in fiberglass tub (8 yrs. old)

From my own experience I had a crack in mine. I sanded the area I wanted to patch. I bought a fiberglass repair kit from the hardware store. I mixed the hardener with the resin and applied it without the cloth. Make sure you have good ventilation and don't get it on your hands. After it dried I sanded it smooth it didn't look the best so I hit with a little spray paint. I have since replaced the tub but it held until I was ready to do that. A couple of years. Hey if this helps give me a vote please.

If turning up the brightness hasn't helped then the lcd is likely going to fail soon.

option 1: hook it up to an external monitor.
option 2: Look for a replacement lcd on e-bay
option 3: Get a new laptop

HP will charge a lot for the display if they even still stock it.

Hope this helps.

Replacing LCD Screen

it depends on if the exisiting invertor is fine or not. If the panel is being replaced because it was cracked etc, then the chances are the invertor is fine and will not need replacing. Obviously if you don't get the same replacement panel that Dell originally used, then you may have to buy a different invertor & figure out the wiring connections to attach it to the motherboard.
