Question about Sterling 402315-0 White Windham Two-Piece Elongated Toilet 402315

Open Question

I need instructions for installing ballcock kohler rialto toilet

HELP.....appreciate any advice....
I installed the toilet ball/shaft/overflow pieces for this 1992 sterling toilet...but the tank is not filling...is there a specific step/s (release a mechanism, turn a specific screw/piece to release the water, etc) to make this work?

I have never done this before...I thought I could just install it in the toilet & it would just automatically engage? Have I missed something?

SOURCE: Running toilet

You need to replace the float system. This will fix the problem will take you about 15 minutes and will cost you about 15 dollars to due it yourself. This is not the flapper, rather this is the float and the water inlet system

SOURCE: can't change the toilet seat that broke

Kohler Rialto Toilet seat replacement.

Use dremel to cut off old bolt and allow it to fall into the black abyss that is the genius of Kohler engineering. Enlarge the hole to 3/8. I worked up to that size slowly increasing bit size so as not to crack porcelin. At Home Depot I bought a 1/4 x 20 x20mm "Insert Nut" and a good 2 part epoxy meant for metal and ceramic. Gently tap the Insert nut about 1/2 way into the hole and apply epoxy all the way around. Continue tapping the insert nut until it is flush. Clean off excess epoxy and allow to set. Now attach any standard round toilet seat using the standard 1/4 nut that comes with it. I used a Kohler "Cachet" round toilet seat to replace the Kohler "French Curve" that comes standard with the Rialto. All in all it should take you about 1/2 hour.

Happy Fixing!

How do you stop a kohler toilet from spraying water inside of tank lid

There should be a small hose that is spraying the water. That hose should be put inside the overflow tube and heald in place with a clip or put into a small hole on top of the tube. Only put the tube in just enough to hold it in place. If it is spraying from anywhere else you need to replace or repair the ballcock.

I have a Kohler elongated toilet and tank. The toilet does not fill up all the way. What should I do.

Hi chanryan...
You need to adjust your float level in the tank.
Look on the arm of the float ball and there should be a screw that you can adjust the level of the tank water.
Turn the screw to raise the level of the water in the tank, to just about a 1/2 inch of the overflow pipe
If it will not adjust then you will have to replace the float valve (ballcock...is what it is called)

I installed a new ballcock assy and float. the toilet fills and shuts off but i can still hear an intermittant water flow. there were no instructions with the new valve so i dont know how to adjust.this is...

Without knowing what type of ballcock assembly you used I can't tell you how to adjust it. However there is one easy thing that you can check. If you have a plastic line going from the ballcock to fill/overflow in tank make sure that the bottom of that line is not below the water in the tank or it can create a siphon and make the water to run a small amount nostop. Hope this helps you. Have a good day and thank you.

Kohler Toilet: Filling apparatus works OK, but constantly overflows.

Hi jgikirstein..
You need to reset your water level inside of the tank, lower the ball float and that should stop your overflow problem.
If it continues to leak then you must replace your "ballcock assembly"...if it is defective it will also cause your tank to overflow...

How to disconnect flapper on kohler k3386DA

You just need to slide the arms of the flapper while rotating away and upwards off the bars; the arms are flexible so they pull away quite easily.

There are some illustrated installation instructions on the Kohler site that may be helpful.

I just installed a Kholer Rialto toilet and the water doesn't shut off, it keeps running even though the tank fills with water.

My toilet is running, how do I fix it? To solve this problem, you'll want to ask the following questions:
  1. Is water running into the overflow tube? If so, lower/adjust the float valve. By doing this it will float higher closing the inlet valve.
  2. Is the chain too slack or too tight? Make sure the chain has only 1-2 beads of slack.
  3. Has the water in the home or surrounding area been recently shut off for some reason? This could cause debris to come up through the water pipes and settle into the diaphragm seal of the fill valve. Flush out the diaphragm seal.
This is not an unusal problem; here is a video that may provide more assistance:

Get seat of Kohler K-3386

Roberta3fan could be giving bad advice based on experience with other toilets. This does not seem to be an option for this toilet design. I am in a similar situation and it appears that the nut (and it is a metal bolt) is not what you would expect. Here is a picture of the anchor kit for this toilet seat: http://www.plumbingsupply.com/images/kohler-anchorkit-84999.jpg I am going to assume that the sleave that should be engaging the bolt is cross threaded and try to grab it with a pair of vice grips. I'll let you know if it works.

I can't unscrew the bolts on my Kohler 3386 rialto toilet to replace the toilet seat.

There is clips where the bolts should be .Flip the clips up grab hold of the seat and pull it strait out towards the front of the toilet.
