The capacitor is located on the power board or is located on other place.

Hello,
You issue might be one that many people been having and that is a bad capacitor in the unit.
A capacitor is a component that holds charged from the Hvac it delvers voltage to the tv when these blow out you get no power to the rest of the tv witch causes the relay to click.
Best thing to do here is bring it into a shop, if its under warranty seek out the warranty with the manufacture. This Tv is worth fixing as a bad capacitor repair is $75 bucks respectively.

Thanks and do please click the accept button for my efforts.

    Hello,

I answered a question of yours. I feel you TV has a capacitor that has gone out in it. Thus you did not reply back to me accept to ask me where. Check all the boards inside there are only a couple boards to check. If you put a new powersupply in and it still did not work it could be that the decoder board that has the bad capacitor.

    Thanks

The blue light means that a fault had been detected, and the TV protection circuit had started.

When this happen, the protection circuit will shut down all PSU higher voltages, keeping the low +5V to supply the flashing led on, and warn about the fault.

The TV will not respond to control when in protect mode.

All you can do is checking all connections, and leaving the TV disconnected.

You can follow the instructions on this article: Why my TV does not start up and remains in.

Since you have done that alreay, that means that there is an internal fault.

In that case the best thing to do is contacting manufacturer at the number listed on the owners manual, and getting a quote on repair.

Parts that commonly fail are capacitors on PSU, convergence ICs, Ballast board.

The parts must be accessed and tested by a technician.

Regards.

    hi.

You cannot test a capacitor using a regular multimeter, you need a cap meter.

The electrolytic capacitor in power board can release dangerous discharge, and must be discharged shorting their contacts.

Sometimes it is possible to find visually that a capacitor has blown, but more often, the decision to replace PSU capacitors must be made by a tech testing the PSU and diagnosing the fault.

Apart the capacitor guessing (that is a common fault), there are faults concerning more parts that can cause the TV going in protect mode.

    Goodbye.

I will be grateful if you can change the negative feedback given, I am a professional electronic technician, I just told you the truth. The capacitor thing does not make much sense. It is like if you are sick, and someone you have a problem with red globules.

    Please change my rating.

    Thanks.

Sounds like the backlight or LED baclight is defective

42PFL7422D/37 Flat Panel LCD TV no picture no sound

I HAVE A 42 INCH PHILIPS MODEL 42PFL7422D/37 TV.

MY PROBLEM IS THAT IT HAS NO PICTURE AND NO SOUND.
THERE IS A GLOWING BACKLIGHTING.

THERE IS A BLUE LIGHT WHEN I TURN POWER ON THE TV. NO CLICKING RELAY SOUND.

MY PROBLEM WAS IN THE SLAVE INVERTER BOARD.

THE IC CHIP WAS BLOWN - SEE PICTURE. THERE IS A BURNED, DARK BROWN MARK ON ONE OF THE CONTACT LEADS ON THE CHIP.

THERE ARE $20 FIX IT KITS THAT YOU CAN BUY ON EBAY TO REPLACE THIS TINY LITTLE CHIP BUT IT'S RECOMMENDED THAT YOU SOLDER VERY CAREFULLY. I TRIED, AND DAMAGED THE BOARD SO I BOUGHT A USED ONE.

REMOVING THE IC CHIP IS PROBABLY BEST DONE WITH A HOT AIR SOLDER GUN. THEY COST ABOUT 50-200 DOLLARS.

AFTER INSTALLATION IT FIRED RIGHT UP.

IN ADDITION TO THE JUST BUYING ANOTHER INVERTER BOARD, I ALSO TESTED THE MASTER INVERTER TRANSFORMERS. ON THE POWER SUPPLY BOARD, I TESTED THE DIODES, AND RESISTORS, AND CHECKED THE FUSE.

AFTER ALL OF THE ABOVE, I UPDATED THE FIRMWARE BY GOING TO THE PHILIPS WEBSITE.

LUCKY FOR MY SITUATION IT WAS NOT THE MASTER INVERTER, MAIN , TCON, POWERSUPPLY, OR DAMAGED BONDING ON THE LCD PANEL ITSELF.

TOTAL COST $50.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Why is my 42" Phillips LCD TV losing the picture about 1-2 seconds after turning it on? The blue power light at the bottom stay on even after the picture has gone away though.

Hi
Beware of doing anything to Philips brand TVs, without previous experience in service. This is the first thing I have to say to you.
Unlike other brand TVS, the Philips circuits are more complicated, and will be difficult to follow to a new-be. I think, you got me.
Please contact the authorized service center for Philips.

Philips 42PFL7422D/37 42-Inch 1080p LCD HDTV Picture went out but still have sound. Any tips on how to fix it?

If the backlight of the LCD-panel does not function, (no picture) then Master and/or Slave inverter are defective. Inverter boards are screwed to both sides of the LCD display, if they have revision 1.2 boards then they will need replaced with revision 1.3 boards.

42 inch philips lcd no picture no sound

Sometime a no picture, no sound still has the power light or some other led blinking. The blinks might be an error code that will isolate the problem.

In general on LCD TVs with no picture, no sound, no blink code, the main power supply has failed. The capacitors weaken and when bad enough, damage the power supply.

If there is a blink code, the most, if not all of the power supply is OK and the blink code could point to the problem.
