There is a valve under the regulator, at switch off pressure the valve must blow of the air between cilinder and checkvalve after stop running.. when checkvalve is not closed it keeps blowing.

When I start my Job boss air compressor model#cffr350b It builds pressure to set psi and stops. Then after using any air gun for a while the pressure drops and the motor kicks in and struggle and will pop...

Whats happening is the compressor is trying to start with pressure on the head/ compressor. The motor is not strong enough to over come the pressure so the motor tries to run ,may be hum a little and pops the breaker. When you bleed the pressure in the tank down the motor does not have to over come the pressure and starts up as it normally would. Now, your problem is the check valve between the tank and compressor. It needs to be replaced. It is allowing pressure in the tank back to the compressor. Thus the compressor tries to start and can't. Trace the line from the compressor to the tank. You should find the check valve screwed into the tank and the compressor discharge line screwed into the check valve. Remove the compressor discharge line, then remove the check valve. Assemble in reverse . also you can loosen the fitting at the compressor. if it blows air all the time it's the check valve for sure.

Air leaking from tank back into compessor is indication that in-tank check valve is leaking. This condition will stress motor when trying to start. Test : With air in tank, unplug compressor from outlet and remove hose from compressor at checkvalve and test for leak (soapy water). If leaking drain air and remove checkvalve. Examine checkvalve for debris under seat (resurface seat or replace valve). Parts are at www.toolpartsdirect.com Good luck

My craftsman 1.5hp 20gallon comperssor starts fine with an empty tank, and will fill the tank, but will throw the built in breaker when it needs more pressure.

Your tank valve is stuck open. The valve is on tank where the tube from the air pump goes into the tank. It allows air into the tank but not back out the same way. When the pump stops you hear a short burst of air leaking out that releases the pressure on the piston in the cylinder. If the tank valve sticks open, the pressure in the cylinders is more than the motor can overcome to restart and the breaker pops open so the motor won't burn itself up. The valves are relatively easy to get and easier to replace.

Second time compressor tries to fill tank blows braker

The compressor pobably has a faulty unloader valve which bleeds the pressure off that is left in the cylinder when the compressor turns off . The unloader valve allows the compressor to start the next on cycle with the cylinder empty. Trying to start the compressor with the cylinder under pressure causes too much current draw and trip the circuit breaker.

Once my tank has filled with air, the motor stops running. Then the motor cycles on and off every couple seconds eventhough the tank is full. What gives???

best guess would be that the pressure switch is defective as it is what tells the motor to start and stop. once the compressor comes up to pressure the switch should open and break contact, sometimes one of the switch contacts will burn shut and stick but not the other.

Starter valve dont close hatachi ec119sa (air compressor)

The start valve gives your motor a running start before the motor begins to load as the pressure increases from an empty tank. The motor strain is more profound when there is pressure in the tank. If you plug the valve, the motor will instantly encounter a heavy load because it has to force air into a partially filled tank. This extra load without the valve will shorten the life of the capacitors and motor windings. There could be two problems with your unit that can revealed by test. What actually closes the valve is a certain volume of air produced by the compressor. If the compressor is not pumping to full efficiency or there are leaks in the discharge hose the valve will not close. Or the valve is faulty. With an empty tank, plug the valve and run compressor and test airline for leaks with soapy water. If no leaks, empty tank of air and restart compressor and take note of the amount of time it takes to fill the tanks to shut off. If it takes an unusually long time to fill, then the compressor probably has valve problems causing low air volume. If the compressor fills to shut off in a short time frame as compared to a similar model then replace the valve. Leaking valves in the head will also cause the pump and discharge tube to run very hot. Parts are available at www.toolpartsdirect.com Good luck with your repair.

Husky comp on 1st start builds up 75 lbs and wont restart

Check the reset button on the motor to see if it tripped. The motor may be overheating. Some motors have an internal breaker and they have to cool off before they restart. Also check the pressure switch. Move the switch back and forth ( on and off ) and listen for a click. If it doesn't click with low to no air pressure then the switch is bad.

Compressor comes on and hums and goes off and does it again, ?

The fact that your compressor completes a cycle indicates that the motor and pump are probably working correctly, however when the pressure switch cycles off there should be a slight release of the air that remains in the airline. If this air is not released thru the unloader of the pressure switch the motor cannot overcome the back-pressure in the airline and just hum. There should be a 1/4 in. hose extending from the pressure switch to the checkvalve in the tank. There is a small tab and needle valve that releases the air. Also check that the tank checkvalve is not leaking air back into the airline as this would cause back pressure. Finally, failing motor start capacitor will cause motor to hum. Weak capacitor will start motor when cold and no pressure in tank, but when things heat-up and with pressure in tank, motor may not have enough power to overcome load and hum. Enjoy
