This is intended for the Simplicity Ellis 4-in-1 crib not the Aspen. My hubby just put together the toddler bed, and he had a problem with securing the screws of the metal mattress support to the crib. He put the screws one by one and there was a gap of nearly 1/2 inch from the crib. He resolved this problem by putting the screws on all four ends of the mattress support, then he tightened the back rail screws (the higher end) first and when he tightened the front rail screws the gap automatically disappeared. I hope I am clear enough on this as I'm not the one who installed this crib, but as he was quite frustrated I thought this might be able to help others who may have the same problem.

hi max! i just saw this issue the other day on hgtv! what they did was remove the front (long side) of the crib and add braces to keep it from collapsing in on itself. you add the braces in the rear corners. these braces should be available at your local diy store. you will need to support the mattress and boxspring as well. the way the did it was the crib structure did not support the mattress but merely surrounded the head of the bed and the left/right sides hope this helps.

Just notice that the matress doesn't set in well... does the crib matress have different sizes maybe??????????????????

Older mattresses are smaller. Make sure you are using the mattress that is listed
on the crib instruction sheet. There is a new standard and all mattresses are made to comply.

Where can I find parts for a Jenny Lind crib purchased in 1979? Is it up to date in current safety specifications?

crib design has not change much through-out the years, except for the fire-safe matresses and the side bars are a little closer together. Other than that it's not much different. I hardly doubt you will find parts for a crib that old but you may find parts for others that are compatible.
The Jenny Lind line is made by delta enterprises.com

Simplicity ellis crib to a bed

If you are changing it to a regular twin-sized bed with the headboard, you need a boxspring WITH a matress. Matresses will break down laying directly on a bed frame. A boxspring gives the frame something hard to help support the matress

I am not familiar with this crib, but I have been through many cribs and they all (so far) are adjustable to lower the mattress. You can figure it out by removing the mattress and matress board and inspecting the way the board is connected to the frame. Often there is a bar or rung that sits in a clip or groove at each corner of the crib just below the matress board. You may have to crawl underneath and look up at it. Usually you will be able to lower the platform without using tools, but be sure to take the weight off the platform by removing the mattress and board. Good luck.
