There is a beep system in all PC's
One quick been means the computer is OK when starting.
one long continuous beep is defined as :
' Power Supply or System Board / Keyboard stuck '

Note: Alternately it could be a Memory module
However it's more likely that it's the above

If you check those two things, you are likely to find the culprit.
If not, you need to post your BIOS and

OK, MMJB = Music Match Juke Box
    You may have corrupt/missing drivers.
I also have two solutions for you:

    First the quick check::

    Go to
Control Panel - System - Hardware - Device Manager

and see if there are any yellow question marks -

    these are for detected
    hardware with no drivers.

If you have a CD for the drivers try
    reinstalling them.

    If you aren't sure:

    Try looking up Everest
(no longer free, but the last free version is at oldversion dot com)
can scan your PC for the

make/model of hardware so you can DL the
    drivers from the manufacturers site.

    1 Go to control panel
    2 Add hardware
3 At "Welcome" screen, press next
4 Select "Yes, I have already connected this hardware". Press next
5 Scroll down, and select "Add a new hardware device"
6 Select "Install the hardware I select from a list"
7 Select "Sound, video and game controllers"
8 Select "(standard system devices)" in pane 1, and "Audio Codecs" in pane 2
    9 Press "Have Disk"
10 Enter "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32" in the drop down box and press "OK"
11 Select "Microsoft Audio Compression Manager" and press "Next" , then "Next" again.
12 At the security screen, press "Continue anyway"

It will install, and require a reboot

If it still does not work, then follow the same procedure, but at point 11 choose "IMA ADPCM

Audio CODEC" and on the next run select "Microsoft ADPCM Audio CODEC"

    *Just a Side Note

It would be a good idea to uninstall/reinstall
Music Match Juke Box Player if you have it

All sound geting a long beep

Hearing a 'beep' is usually to warn you there is a fault. I do not know a single long beep as a code for your Notebook. Turn it on and do not touch anything, and see if there are any short beeps and/or other long beeps, and let us know
Quite often it is a fan problem, can you hear your fan running and does it sound normal?

Try reinstalling the audio driver.
You can download the audio and device drivers for your model laptop from the Toshiba WEB site from their download page. Make sure you enter the model of your laptop so you can get the correct drivers. Please click on this link: - http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/home.jsp

Your beep codes are..
1 short beep System is OK
2 short beeps POST Error - error code shown on screen No beep Power supply or system board problem Continuous beep Power supply, system board, or keyboard problem Repeating short beeps Power supply or system board problem
1 long, 1 short beep System board problem
1 long, 2 short beeps Display adapter problem (MDA, CGA)
1 long, 3 short beeps Display adapter problem (EGA)
3 long beeps 3270 keyboard card .
So looks like a display problem, have you tried any of the recovery/restore options available when you press F8 on boot up

Beeping while DVD is in

Hi Rosanna,
Actually when a dvd is being read by computer, much of the memory is being used in it. if there are some unreadable sectors on dvd which ur computer cant read, it freezes i.e. it stops responding to anything & u think its hanged.
Even for sounds, either it stops the sound or it hangs the sound like grrr....
Try to clean the DVD with a soft cotton cloth with a bit of after shave over it.
Try it then..else try some other DVD's.......
hope it worked u out
Thanks
