You didn't say what brand of tv you have but most Digital/ HD tv"s have a service set up that only a tech can get to with the remote. from there he can set the vertical peramitors to shorten the picture.

How do I stop the words from being cutoff on the tv screen?

You need to check the zoom or aspect ratio on your TV remote and or your cable/satellite remote. The zoom or 16:1 aspect ratio often cuts off words if the movie or show is in 4:3 ratio.

Picture is cutting off top of subjects head. Can't see wording at bottom on screen

The aspect ratio is not set up right. It is a menu thing and you will have to make the change on screen with your remote. Find the list for the picture and go through the menu, look for aspect ratio or screen size.

Picture outside of screen limits

I have Time Warner Cable and just FIXED this problem. On the cable box remote, there is a button with the word "Aspect" on it. On my particular remote, this is the "#" button (pound symbol) and by pressing that button, it gives you options of "Zoom 1", "Zoom 2", "Stretch" and "Normal". By setting it to "Normal", it completely solved the problem. Oh and by the way, my t.v. is the LG 47" flat screen LCD. Hope this helps the other frustrated folks out there.

The bottom and top of the picture are being cut off

Check your remote for a "zoom" or "picture size" button. Press this button to adjust the size until everything fits back on the screen.

Please take a moment to rate this solution a fixya if it's helped with your problem. Thanks for asking here!
