Ice Maker Isn't Working Anymore

Purchased a Kitchen Aid side by side (model KSRP22FN5500) 3 years ago and it has worked like a charm until recently.

Ice maker isn't producing ice anymore---when it operates properly, I can hear running water and the engine, but now I hear nothing.

I recently replaced the filter, the running water function still works, and all the electronics seem to be in working order.

Any ideas on what might be the culprit?

Thanks for your reply---the ice bucket is in fact on the side door...

I haven't removed the icemaker assembly as of yet to check if the wires exist---is that something I should do first?

I'll check to see if there is a techsheet behind the kickplate now and hope to hear back from you soon.

    Thanks for all your help!

Yes the door dispenser and the ice maker have separate valves it could be the ice maker valve isn't working properly could be the motor module is bad on the icemaker its self get a 10 gauge piece of wire about three inches long strip about 3/8 to1/2 in off each end pull the front off the icemaker and you will se a bunch of little holes they will have letters on them put the wires in the holes marked t and h kind of wiggle it side to side and watch the ice maker if it does nothing then replace the motor module on the front of the icemaker (you don't have to buy the whole icemaker you can buy the module separate ) if the ejector blades move then when they get to the bottom pull the wire out wit for it to complete its cycle see if it fills if it doesn't then change now if your ice bucket is in the door that can be a whole different animal reply to me and let me know what you find and if you have the icemaker in the door dont buy anything till we check it out as a mater of fact if you pull the bottom kickplate off there should be a tech sheet in it or in a plastic bag under the fridge

ok then the infared sensor in the door can stop it if its bad locate the tech sheet and check the sensor i don't quite remember but i think with the door open it should be blinking but the tech sheet will tell you for sure check that first

Try finding the water source-turn it off-then on again after 10 min. Some ice makers have a reset button- check manual.

The ice maker not working: ---

Its the problem of water inlet valve. It's a dual valve. This valve has two tubes in it. One for water dispenser and one for ice maker chamber. The one side of valve is working, but other side of the valve is not working. The valve is got stuck in one position

water maybe frozen somewhere in the system. may need to disconnect water connections at various points and retry to narrow down where freeze up is at.

Kitchen Aid Ice maker Stopped working

I would suggest not buying a KitchenAid. I have the same problem with my ice maker. Have had nothing but problems with every KitchenAid product that I have ever owned. I will never purchase another KitchenAid product.

All of there appliances are second rate. That is "The KitchenAid Difference"
