No there isn't any way to override it you might try the bypass tray.It might work.you have to be very careful with installing and removeing the paper tray when you do get it fixed.

I have a IBM 9068 Model S01,it is sometimes showing error code 18.If I tilt up the printer assembly during the printer power on it is ok.If I tilt down the printer assembly meaning to it's original...

Error 18 is a "Paper Edge Search Error".

1. Check document for damage and check it meets specs.
2. Check that Ribbon Cartridge is installed correctly.
3. Do "Form-Edge Sensor Service Check"
4. Do "Platen" adjustment.

Sensor Status Display:

1
. Start Self-Test (press and hold Start 1 on panel: then turn on printer. Keep holding button until at least "00" is displayed.
2. Use a magnet to override cover closed/open sensor to the left of the Start1 button in the indent.
3. Press Reject Off button until "4" is displayed.
4. Press Start1 button to shift to next digit.
5. Press Reject Off to display "4"
6. Display should now read "44"
7. Press Start2 button. The LED display indicates sensor status'
8. You will see changes with inserting paper or removing paper.

FORM-EDGE SERVICE CHECK:
Perform sensor status display as stated above. The sensor is located on the print head carriage on the left side.

1. The upper right vertical segment of the left LED digit is assigned to the form-edge sensor for Command "44"
With no paper the LED segment is unlit.
2. Check the sensor by inserting paper. Move the print carrier to the right to access the sensor mounted on the print carrier.
If the LED segment becomes lit when you insert the paper, and becomes unlit when you remove the paper, sensor is OK.
3. If the sensor does not work, check that the sensor cable is connected correctly. If the cable is okay, replace the following one at a time:
a. Form Edge Sensor -46H2648
b. Form Edge Sensor Cable -46H2730
c. Main Card -
1.46H2632 - Serial Interface
2.46H2634 - Parallel Interface

Engine LSU error

with an lsu error the paper will get to the cartridge and the laser scanning unit will start charging the transfer drum, at this point the printer realises the laser scanning unit isnt working properly and stops all operation hence the paper stopping at that point, usually this means a replacement lsu which unfortunately isnt deemed a "user serviceable part" contact a service centre armed with this information and your better placed to get a speedy repair

My printer suddenly stops printing then it says paper jammed even it isnt... i try not to load paper but still that message appears.

the paper sensor pin is jammed up in sensor so it detects that the paper is still there.even though its not there.get the printer serviced so that the sensor moves freely.this will solve the problem. please do not forget to rate the solution.thanks

Paper jam light is flashing but no paper is in the printer

Generally that is a sensor fault and if its an injet printer, I'm sorry to say but its easier and cheaper to buy a replacement.
double check the printer and pull it completely apart if you have to too make sure there is no paper left in there at all, but quite often its a sensor that goes that just displays paper issues when there isnt.
inkjet printers are basically disposable nowadays because of how cheap they are...but give it a shot..also can you run the printer software and see if it gives a more specific error or error code?

No matter what I do, I get the "Back Cover Open.. close the back cover" error message. I've repeatedly opened/closed the back cover, taken out toner cartridge, checked for paper jams or scraps. ...

I Had the Same Problem with a printer i got for free. I tried messing around with the back door sensor flag(spring loaded piece) but it seemed to be located correctly.

I believe the switch has dual purpose first to check for the back cover closed and to see when a paper has gone around the rollers. It would only give me the "back cover" error when a new paper was loaded and would go around the rollers. I would then remove this piece of paper and try again and it would give me the same error.

This lead me to believe that the sensor was working like it should and it could be a programming bug. I couldnt find a way to reset the printer so I took off the left side cover by removing one front and one back screw. (UNPLUG POWER OF COURSE) Then pulled each connector and plugged them back in. This seemed to reset the printer and now it works!!!!

Paper error

I hope that this can help someone else as it has taken me all day to fix this issue on a C6180 all-in-one machine. I will ignore the normal solutions to a "paper mismatch" error such as your settings not matching your printing media. Obviously, check these first:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com

If your problem is not solved with the above steps, you have an issue with your "spot sensor" and it needs to be calibrated. Instructions:

1. Press * and # at the same time, and then release both keys.
The display reads "Enter Special Key Combo".
2. Press 3, 2, and then 9, releasing each key before pressing the next.
The display window should read "Service: R0622M" with a revision number.
3. Press the right arrow button once.
The display should read "System Configuration".
4. Press Enter or OK.
5. You will be prompted to enter serial number. Do not enter any information
on the unit.
Press the right arrow button until "media sense calibration" appears in the
display.
6. Load Paper into the unit and then press Enter or OK.
7. Media Sense Calibration process will take place.

It is one of the rare times that HP chat has fixed my printer at no cost and instantly. Here is a full transcript describing my issue and the HP chat solution:

E-03 Error "Paper Out" - but there is plenty of paper

It sounds that the sensor that responsible in detecting papers to be feed in the printer is malfunctioning. I can suggest some work around if this thing won't work then you need to send your printer to service.
Please check for any obstruction inside the printer like paper, plastic, tapes. Turn on and turn off the printer and make sure that you load the paper correctly.
If the issue still present then its a hardware failure. If your printer is under warranty I suggest to call your
printer's manufacturer and have them replaced or if you think buying new printer is more cost effective then buy new printer.

Lexmark c510---201 paper Jam helps empty my wallet

I daily repair Lexmark printers and 2 models that I work on have the same issues and in this case it turns out that the exit sensor is the issue though it is not the sensor itself. What I have found to be the problem is the sensor switch it has has a thin long arm that the paper trips and if this has been broken then the paper passing won't activate the sensor (usually this arm gets broken when there is a random paper jam and the toner and photodrum assembly are not removed before clearing the paper jam) Now there is a newer model that I have started seeing with a similar exit sensor issue but this on is just that the design is so bad that I recommend that the switch just be removed because it is just garbage and unplug/disable the sensor from the options board. Hope this is helpful.
