Question about Refrigerators

1 Answer

HOTPOINT REFRIGERATOR HSS25GFP. Water stopped working two weeks ago. Now, today the ice maker won't dispense ice. There is ice in the bin. If i switch back and forth between "cubed" and "crushed" it sometimes works. However, I still can't get water. Filter is new.

I disconnected the water supply line at the bottom. Water does come out. Sometimes it comes out on the first try and other times it takes 5 to 10n pushes for it to come out. The same with the ice.

Yes. water was actually frozen in the door. I thawed it out. Works again. Thank you.

You will have to observe to see if any parts are moving and if any noise is coming from the solenoid. Remove the dispenser cover by gently prying starting at the bottom going round and round a little at a time to prevent from breaking it. When it's off the screws will be exposed to access the other components.

You can disconnect the line under the unit before it goes into the door at the bottom hinge. Push the dispenser button and see if it comes out there. If it does leave the door open till it thaws. Covering the opening with a blanket will prevent the loss of cold in the freezer. . GE makes a heater that will prevent this from happing again. The part number for this heater is WR49X10173.
If that's not the problem
disconnect the line to the water dispenser at the water inlet valve on the back where the water supply comes in and try the dispenser. if you hear the valve work but water doesn't come out, the valve is bad. If you don't hear the valve, the dispenser switch is bad

The dispenser switch is the switch made when you push the glass for water.

Ice maker does not work on my Hotpoint sise by side. the water dispenser works, i've replaced the filter, the green light is on, but nothing happens with the icemaker, no running water sound, no ice

Try swapping the wires on the dual water inlet valve. Then try the water dispenser. The water should go to the ice maker. This will tell you weather or not the ice maker valve is working and if the line is clear.

Ice maker not working

The icemakers won't make ice if the temperature is not below a certain set point. Varies between manufacturers. Try making the temp colder.

Hotpoint HSS25GFP icemaker stopped working

are u sure that model # Is right.. DOnt come up in any of my model data bases Seems like u might of got a bad icemaker.. if the water is coming into the icemaker from the water valve.. icemaker has to have power, to do that... all funtions after that would be controled by the iceaker .. The only other thing i can think of is your refrigerator has to be a certain temp to activate icemaker somewhere around 0 give or take some to be safe
