Check system requirements. - iPod nano (5th generation) requires the following minimum versions of Windows: either Windows XP (Service Pack 3 or later), Vista or Windows 7. If you have one of these versions of Windows, verify that Windows is fully up to date by downloading and installing software updates from Microsoft. If you have Windows XP with Windows XP Service Pack 1 or Windows XP Service Pack 2, download and install Service Pack 3 using Windows Update.
AMDS online? - iPod nano requires Apple Mobile Device Support (AMDS), which should be automatically installed with iTunes. To verify whether it is installed, click Start > Control Panel. Open the Addor Remove Programs control panel and verify that Apple Mobile Device Support is visible in the list of currently installed programs. If it is not, remove and reinstall iTunes.
Check USB connection. - Disconnect all USB devices from the system with the exception of the iPod nano and any USB keyboard and mouse. Then restart your computer. Verify that you are using a high-powered USB 2.0 port. Test with an alternate iPod USB cable if one is available.
AMDS - Re-verify that AMDS is running and installed.
only 3rd generation iPod nanos can play video, and the video must be mp4, you can use itunes to sync video to ipod nano, just follow those steps: 1. Open iTunes and click "File" to add your videos to iTunes library. 2. plug in your iPod Nano to computer, then iTunes will detect your iPod Nano as a device. 3. Select your iPod Nano device on the left panel of iTunes, click "Movies" tab, check the videos you want to sync and click "Apply"
First reset the device by pressing and holding Menu & Select till the apple symbol appears
Next check the USB port on both the PC and ipod are clear of dust etc.
Download and install the latest iTunes from the Apple site.
Connect the ipod to a USB port directly on the back of your PC (ie, not a USB hub or keyboard etc.)
If iTunes recognises it (properly or improperly) and suggests an ipod software update, do this.
On the main ipod page of iTunes press the restore button and choose the bottom option (if it gives you any) to restore the ipod to manufacturers settings.
After a couple of restarts once its done it should be fine.
Hi Blaine, Connect it to iTunes and use the Restore feature on the main screen when it's connected. This will keep all the songs but restore all the settings to default values. And you're done!
No Mac needed. You can use a PC just as well. All you really need is the iTunes software from Apple. For iTunes go to www.apple.com and select iPod+iTunes from the top menu. and then download.
You just need the latest iTunes......and your will need Service pack 2 for Windows to install the latest Itunes, or you can just go to www.apple.com and choose ipod, and look for minimum system requirements for windows..
