Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

My officejet 6310 all in one is telling me that there is a cartridge error.

I took my cartridge out to get them refill, now when it is time for me to print, the printer is telling me that my cartridge on the right is not intended for this printer. It is the same ones that came with the printer. please can you help me

    I dont see where that option is on my printer, they are hp inks and all i did was took them out to get them refill.

    thank you mike! i refill the cartridge at wallgreens and they did put the chip on the cartridge. i guess i am just going to have to buy a new cartridge even though that is a new one .

if you get a message saying " this is not an official cartridge or similar " click on use anyway. Newer cartridges, have chips installed. so that the printer can recognise low ink levels. if the new cartridge is not an official product. this error message will come up anyway. by clicking use it anyway ( Or similar ) it won,t make any difference at all to the printer. The big-companys want you to buy thier expensive refills, thats all it is.

    If they have chips fitted to the cartridges.

    Then they should have been reset, after the cartridges were filled.

    if you did this yourself, or a friend. then you need to purchase a chip-resseting tool.

    these are simple to use. you fill the cartridge with ink.

    then you apply the chip resetting tool, to the cartridge, this then informs the printer, that the ink-tank is full.

    problem solved, if not purchase an original cartridge.

The printer has detected that you are using a refilled HP ink cartridge.
HP stated on their ink cartridges as Intended for single use only.
If you use it a second time, it would be Not Intended for this printer.
If the cartridge has not expired and was not refilled, you could call HP for a replacement.
You coud also try to remove and install back the cartridge.
Reseting the printer by turning the printer off then on may work.

You need to decide upon a suitable replacement. HP recommends using their ink cartridges, but you can also choose to use a cartridge from a different brand. If you have a higher volume of prints, you may even consider refilling old cartridges to cut down on costs.

Remove the old cartridge by removing the main cover. The cartridge carriers will automatically move to the center. Press the top of the carriers to open the plastic lids covering the cartridges. Gently press down on the old cartridge and slide it out.

Install your new HP printer ink cartridge. Remove the blue protective strip from the contacts and place the cartridge in the carriers. Press down gently until the cartridge sits in its position. Replace the carrier lid and main printer cover. Restart the printer and take some test prints.

hello, some of the time the color ink cartridge can cause the problem, especially if its a refilled ink, but at same time, i do know some of the new inks right out of the box will fail. so try with a new color cartridge first.

Color Cartridge


When this error appears in your printer check if ink are smeared on the holder where the contact panel is with the cartridge. To fix this issue use the Kleenex(perfume ) added with few drops of water to dampen it and clean off those contact on the holder. You should let the unit sit 24 hours for best results. Before printing anything run aligned thecartridgesa couple times then run clean cartridges a couple of times. Print the test page to look for the condition.

Refilled cartridge, now it says, cartridge error

try cleaning the contacts with a wet towel 
otherwise you need to replace the cartridge
