Diesel Will the Dyna-Glo heater burn diesel fuel? Apparently kerosene is being phased out around here and I either need a different heater or need to switch fuels.

Well, somebody once told me that if you add a quart of oil to 5 gal of kero, it makes a good diesel substitute. So, in theory, I would add a little ethinal (corn gas) to the kero.

In retrospect, adding ethinal can be a little dangerous. I figured out that if I stop getting kero at one specific gas station the problem fixes itself. Since only getting kero at selective stations, my wick has lasted 2 or 3 years. They have also removed their kero pump from service in that time.

Dyna-Glo kerosene forced heater burning eyes and will not stay lit with top on

Do NOT use it indoors. If it's burning your eyes it's carbon monoxide from an inefficient burn and it will kill you. Kerosene flow is not working correctly. Cannot diagnose without examining. I'd recommend taking it thoroughly apart and cleaning all parts (especially internally of parts... anywhere kerosene flows). You can use "Brake Kleen" (or any brand) from an auto parts store. It evaporates quickly and leaves no residue.

How do u convert from kerosene to diesel

there may be possible ways out there to do the conversion but it may put you and your loved ones in jeopardy. kerosene and diesel fuel have different thermal characteristic during the burning process so the heater designed to run on kerosene may not be capable of handling the burning characteristics of diesel fuel. This may lead to unwanted fire incidents and loss of lives. Best is to purchase heater made for diesel fuel.

I just replaced the wick, cleaned up the heater and filled with new K-1 kero. The heater (Dyna-Glo RMC-95-C7) is emitting black smoke worst than ever. The wick is burning a little unevenly.

Either the wick was improperly installed or you may not have allowed enough time for the wick to soak in the kerosene and become evenly distributed. Check the placement of the new wick and allow time (several hours) for the wick to absorb the kerosene.

My heater is a reddy heater 165,000btu. when i plug it up it will ignite, it will get a flame for about ten seconds and it shutdown. i recently replaced the ignitor because it broke and replace the fuel...

I would definitely stop burning off road diesel as it is dirty.Remove the top section of the heater and clean the fire eye with windex and a terry cloth rag, and run K1 kerosene it burns so much cleaner. Also make sure that fuel is not an issuecheck fuel filter, fuel lines and don't forget the screen in behind the nozzle.

Can you use diesel instead of kerosene in ready heaters?

No - diesel fuel is NOT the same as kerosene. Kerosene is #1, regular diesel is #2. They are not interchangeable.

I have a portable forced air heater Model R55A heater size 55,000/Hr can I use diesel fuel instead of kerosene?

You can, but prolonged use of diesel fuel will burn out the cone faster. Too hot. And it stinks alot worse than kerosene.

Mr Heater MH75KT - won't start with diesel

If the MH75KT is the correct model, then it is a Kerosene only heater. Fuels, like oil and diesel all have different ignition points.
