If you prefer the convenience and don't mind the extra cost, you can buy shredder lubricant sheets at an office supply store and follow the directions on the package.

Or for a far less expensive method, buy a bottle of generic mineral oil (or baby oil) in the drug store. Spread 1/2 tsp of the oil onto a piece of letter size scrap paper, and run the oiled paper through the shredder. Then run the shredder in reverse for a few seconds and in forward for a few more seconds to spread the oil over the shredding cylinders. That's it.

SOURCE: NoviTech Paper Shredder will not feed paper forward.

Solution 1 worked for me. I unscrewed all 7 screws, pulled apart the cover carefully. Beware, there are wires attached. you can lay it side by side.

The activator is the white plastic thing. You need to make sure that it sticks out and as the paper goes from the top, through the cover, it hits the white activator.

At the end of the white activator, you see it has some plastic to push on the metal strip. This engages the forward motion. You'll here a click if you test the paper going through. This click is the sound of telling the motor to roll forward.

I think it got knocked out of place when I tried to insert a CD into it. Luckily, I didn't buy another shredder because of the Best Solution in this forum. So thanks for your help!

Have a NOVITECH paper shredder- PS-026/B2. When slide switch is moved to ON it starts shredding and won't stop automatically until switch is returned to OFF

LOOK INTO WHERE THE PAPER IS FED... THERE IS A TINY SWITCH THAT THE PAPER TRIPS WHEN THE PAPER IS FED INTO THE SHREDDER. THIS SWITCH IS SHORTED OUT OR STUCK INTERNALLY FOR SOME UNKNOWN REASON.

I have a novitech shedder. The motor works but it will not shred?

It is probably a gear that is not longer connecting or is worn so will not turn the teeth. It is a little known fact that shredders need to be lubricated at least annually as the fine paper begins to clog the teeth over time and can over-work the motor.
Solution if this is the case - purchase a new shredder and some lubrication.

Need NoviTech shredder customer service number or assistance

These are easy to take apart. Should be 4 screws maybe six. One might be behind a label. Just pull it apart and unclog the gears or cutters. Be careful not to cut yourself. Take pictures after shell is apart. That way you can unclog and put back together.

Novitech shredder

After clearing the jam (with the unit unplugged!), let the unit cool completely, then try using it again. A notice on the nameplate inside my unit says: "2 min on/4 min off." Apparently, a thermal cutoff keeps it from overheating by automatically preventing continued operation that might otherwise melt the parts. So heed the directions. I had the same problem with my NoviTech Model PS-026/B2 crosscut shredder (max: 5 sheets, 1 credit card). Also, make sure the motor mechanism is seated square and flush on the bin. I tried testing it out of the bin, and the green ready light wouldn't come on -- for a good reason: safety. (I still have all of my fingers, thanks to that!) Hope this helps.
