Question about Magic Chef CMV1000B Microwave Oven

1 Answer

The power blew while it was on with the dryer

The power blew while it was on at the same time with the dryer. Was like the fuse had blown but the fuse is fine - is there an internal switch somewhere? Though it's older there's been no sign of problems - worked perfectly.

Thanks so much! Let me ask....

you can see the diagram of the microwave here: http://www.appliancepartspros.com/partse...

Looks like the hv capacitor is behind the vents on top of the unit (#8) - does that sound right?

Also, they've misnumbered the fuse - would you have an idea as to where it would be?

    THANK YOU SO MUCH!

GE Advantium 120 SCA1000DWW03 blowing 20amp fuse

Our unit was doing the same thing,
took it into the repair shop, they said there was nothing wrong with the unit, replace the main breaker that supplies power to microwave and try again.
Sure enough the breaker became defective, and we never had issues with it before, but now the unit has not had a single problem.

Panasonic NN-C980B stopped working. Blown fuse.

Sometimes when the mag shorts it takes out the inverter. I would measure the mag leads to ground and they should be open or 20M or so. If you have both a mag and inverter bad it's probably time for a new oven.

Fuse blew microwave

Sounds like a fault on the magetron power supply.

If you are confident enough to ground and discharge the main capacitor, check to see if it is faulty.

Check for arcing or scorch marks around the transformer and check the HV lines on the magnatron input for continuity.

If the capacitor has blown out, this can be replaced, however if the magetron or transformer is faulty this is a much more complicated repair and should only be done professionally.

Emerson Microwave Model MW8119SB found blown fuse. Replaced fuse power came back punched in 10 sec started microwave and fuse blew again.

Chances are that either the diode or capacitor are shorted. Be very careful, the capacitor can store a charge and should be discharged first for safety. Hope that helps...

All of a sudden, no power, no lights, NOTHING!

if the microwave is on the same circuit as the refrigerator, it's possible that the micro was turned on just as the refer compressor kicked on. i've seen that situation pop a fuse in microwaves many times - make sure you get a ceramic slo-blo fuse
