Re: trackball on 8100 pearl
Well, you could try pushing down on the "pearl" and scrolling down. if not, get some compressed air, and blow around the little chrome rim part. if all else fails, you can take it out. BE CAREFUL DOING THIS THOUGH.
here is how to do it.
insert your nail or something small that wont scratch it on the TOP part of the little chrome rim. the top is because its the only part without a clip to hold it in place.
try to SLOWLY wedge it out, applying pressure little by little. you'll know when youre doing it right.blow compressed air there, but make sure to keep the actual pearl assembly parts in place. they can come out, but it is a very very hard process to put it back together should it come apart. place the rim back, remember to put the part without the little clamp ON TOP, pointing towards the screen.
hope i was helpful! dont hesitate asking me anything else!

it can be solved only by opening the trackball and removing the dust in the trackball....it is the most common problem with blackberry mobile...
u can be able to see the repairing procedure of the track ball in the youtube videos..
There is probably some corrosion underneith the center dome cover on the select button. It is held on by some tape. Simply remove the track ball then remove the center select button dome and clean/scrap both sides with a small screwdriver and reinstall. You will probably have to retape it down. This should get you up and running in no time.
Trackball doesn't work if you have not selected the sensitivity.
To select the sensitivity, kindly follow the steps:
1. Select menu.
2. Select option.
3. Select screen/key board.
4. Scroll down to find horizontal and verticle
5. Select horizontal-100 and verticle-100.
I Hope it helped you.
It has been in my experience with the 8100 that if you can't scroll a certain direction, there was debris on the roller preventing it from registering the roll. Turn the phone off, press down on the track ball (as if to press a button) roll the ball down (in your case). This may help dislodge whatever debris is caught in the roller. It has worked for me several times. You may want to try and clean the trackball as well with some rubbing alcohol and a q-tip.
If it were a software problem, then I would imagine you turning off the phone (battery pull) would clear this up anyways.
Cause: The sensitivity of the trackball/trackwheel might be less Faulty Hardware Resolution: Increase the sensitivity by following procedure Option -> Screen and Keyboard -> Horizontal Sensitivity and Vertical Sensitivity to 100 If not working check with the service center
Clean your trackball regularly by slightly dipping a cotton swab into rubbing alcohol and using that to clean your trackball.
Unfortunately, dirt and oils on your fingers wear out the trackball over time, causing it to behave in unpredictable ways.
Hi guys I have the solution. I think all your trackballs are stuck. If you cant move it, take the silver ring off with a knife, take off the trackball and put rubbing alcohol on it wth a Q - tip until it works. Can some1 help me? My problem is titled My blackberry pearl wont load up.
