Hi and welcome to Fixya. When a food section of a refridgerator warms up it is a sign that the unit is not defrosting or there is an air flow problem.

This can be caused by the following components:

1. The defrost timer
2. Defrost bi-metal 60 Deg thermostat
3. Heating element
4. Evaporator fan failure in the freezer compartment

Sometimes the defrost timer will just stop advancing for some reason and ice builds up in the evaporator coils that restircts airflow from the evaporator fan so the food section warms up.

The most likely failure is the defrost timer.

You can see if your uint will cool properly after a good defrosting by doing this:

1. Unplug the unit and unload the freezer section
2. Place a fan blowing into the freezer for about 2 hours. (it will make a water mess so be prepaired)
3. Plug in / restart the unit and monitor the temperature for the next 48 hours (it should be normal or near normal) After 48 hours the food section temp will start to raise again due to ice build up.
4. If the temps return to normal then the unit is not defrosting properly and will need repaired.

You can find replacement parts here:

http://www.partselect.com/AdvancedModelSearch.aspx?ModelNum=KSRB22FHBL01&mfgModelNum=&fkMfgID=3

From the model number you gave the defrost timer is Item 6 of the control diagram

http://www.partselect.com/PartDetail.aspx?Inventory=372261&SourceCode=1#

It can also be found here:
http://www.repairclinic.com/Appliance-Parts?s=t-KSRB22FHBL01-%3d%3d&z=50

http://www.repairclinic.com/SSPartDetail.aspx?s=t-KSRB22FHBL01-%3d%3di844415&PartID=844415

I did not of course diagnose the unit in your home. The part above is the most common failure. Given the cost of the defrost timer I would make SURE that it was defective before ordering.

In order to perform a continuity check of the rest of the defrost system components the bi-metal 60 Deg F thermostat must be above 60 Deg (or jumpered) to read the whole circuit. Jumpering the 60 Deg thermostat will not verify it is working correctly.

Hopefully this gives you a bit more understanding of why your unit is warming up in the food section.

Freezer not getting cold and dripping water

I own a similar Kitchen Aid fridge that had a defrost icing issue: Kitchen Aid KSRP25FNBL00
> Ice had plugged the drain hole at bottom of chill coil section inside the freezer compartment.
> I learned that the coil, circulation fan was not working, but condenser was working.
> I paid a tech to replace the circ fan, about $200, including a new swiss-made fan. He said it was unusual for these fans to fail, but not unheard of.
Expensive, but saved the purchase of a new fridge. Has worked great for 6 months since then.
HOpe that helps.

GE Profile Refridgerator side warm, freezer ok?

Fridge gets cold air from freezer to cool it. Your freezer is fine but not enough cold air is getting into fridge compartment. U have some dampers or louvers that direct air flow to fridge and if they are not set properly cooling will not be adequate. Check those out.

Kitchen aid KSRG25FKSS04 freezer is not freezing

Hello, few things to check:

1) Remove dirt / dust that has accumulated on the condenser coil located on the back of the fridge, or underneath. Use a vacuum to clean off with.

2) Remove dirt / dust in / around compressor area. Make sure you turn power off first as there are several areas in this area that can "bite."

3) Look for heavy frost / ice buildup in the freezer compartment. Defrost if necessary.

4) Make sure the fan is blowing in the freezer compartment.

5) Make sure there is air flow from the vent at the top of the refrigerator compartment. This air is driven by the fan in the freezer (most models).

6) Loading a lot of unfrozen food into the freezer compartment will have the appearance of the fridge going out, but is actually functioning normally as it removes heat from the food so it will freeze.

7) Your thermostat is not working correctly. Move it to the coldest setting if not already done so. Listen for the compressor to kick on. If it doesn't, bad t-stat.

Thanks

My kitchen aid frig is not working. the freezer side does work is it worth fixing model kitchenaid ksrp25fnss00. i bought ot 4 years ago

I would suggest you may have an airflow problem. As the frig compartment receives the cold air from the freezer compartment and you say the freezer is working, then you must have an airflow problem .Check the airflow dail next to the thermostat that has numbers. Normal setting is the middle setting on both airflow dail and therm.Allow temp to stabilize and recheck.hope this helps.

Problem with Kitchen Aid side by Side

Hi, With the information you supplied i'm going to assume there is an ice build up at the rear of the freezer. Your problem is going to be with your defrost system. I will also assume you have the ability to repair this yourself. This is going to be one of three problems with your refridgerator, 1st thing to do is remove shelfs and panel in the back of the freezer...you should see ice build up on the evaporator...don't worry get a hair dryer and melt the ice. Next locate the wires for the heater...using a multi meter test the heater for condinuity...if the heater is bad replace it, If the heater is good replace the defrost thermostat..the stat normally is a barrel looking part clipped onto the evaporator pipe. The last possible problem could be the evaporator fan, have you heard the fan running in the past few hours?..if you are not sure pull the panel out to where you can see fan and watch it over an hour to see if it turns. I have included links with pictures of what the parts you need to check are: http://romulusappliance.com/manufacturers/maytag/refrigerators/575432.JPG defrost stat http://www.hotekalliance.com/UploadFiles/2008627111553382.jpg heaters http://www.applianceblog.com/archives/EvapMotor1018185.jpg evap fan. Hope this helps. If you have any other questions please feel free to comment again. If you decide to get a repair guy in should not cost you any more then $120 - $200 depending on make/model/problem Good luck!

I have a Kitchen Aid refridgerator. My freezer

Hi, Check the rear inside panel of the freezer section and see if there is a frost build up. Also check and make sure the evaporator fan motor in the freezer is running.
If there is a frost build up, remove the rear indise panel and check the defrost heater and bi-metal switch for continuity. The bi-metal switch located on the top of the evaporator has to be tested while it is still cold.
If either of them show an open circuit, it will need replaced. If both of these parts show ok, you will need to replace the defrost timer/board.
Please let me know what you find and if I can assist you further.

Water stopped and freezer not cooling

you probably have a bad evap fan motor in the freezer compartment. when this motor goes bad it doesnt distribute the cold air around causin subfreezing temp in the bottom of the freezer it then migrates into the fresh food compartment. you can order the motor by the mod# of your refrig and it is fairly easy to change yourself. good luck peyton
