Might I suggest your friendly local Stihl dealer? If you explain everything you have already done probably less than $30.

The first thing to check, (provided you also replaced the spark plug when replacing the more expensive items) is the gap between the flywheel and the '' exciter '' coil. The gap should be about the same as the thickness of plastic strapping. (this is true for most saws although I am not absolutely 100% sure for the 51). What we would do in our workshop was with the bolts not tightened, put the plastic strap between the coil and a non-magnetic part of the flywheel. Hold it in place and turn the flywheel until it pulled the coil tight up against the plastic. Then tighten the bolts, rotate the flywheel and remove the plastic. Job done. Also check all the leads for breaks in the insulation that can cause the coil to ''Earth''.

I would drip a little fuel into the head directly. If that does not fire you may want to consider hoter plug, consult Husky.

Why wont my saw fire the sparkplug with the replacement coil

Make sure you are using a resistor plug. This is extremely important on this model. If this is not the issue, remove coil, use emory cloth to clean the mounting area for the coil. Trash or oxidation can prevent a good ground on the coil. Lastly make sure the air gap (distance from flywheel to coil is correct) itshould be .012"

Husqvarna problems

If spark is ok then I would say the carburetor is the likely problem or the fuel is not entering the engine. Something like the following instructions might help.

Husqvarna Problems

When it won't start have you removed the spark plug after cranking it over like you were attempting to start it cold with the choke on and then inspecting the spark if it's wet then you know it is in fact getting fuel enough to start and you can proceed with the next test which is putting the spark plug back on the plug wire and grounding the spark plugs base against the motor so it can ground and crank the motor over like you again were trying to start it and seeing if your getting a good blue colored spark that is blinking fast and doesn't stop blinking/arching at the plugs electrode. ( shut the choke and throttle positions off and when you ground the spark plug do so away from the plug hole) This test is easier if you have someone turn the key for you so you can watch what the spark plug is doing while cranking it over for about 5 to 10 seconds. If erratic or no spark and assuming you've changed the spark plug or plugs then something is grounding the shut off side of the coil or coils or you have a coil problem.

No spark

Hi David, on twin cams make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Battery voltage below 8.7 volts, loose or broken battery cables especially ground cable to frame.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, MAP or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.

Hi D, if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Battery voltage below 8.7 volts, loose or broken battery cables especially "GROUND" cable to frame.
