  2. With the power cord disconnected, press and hold the power button for five seconds.
  3. Reconnect the power cord, and then turn on the computer.
  4. Repeatedly press the F10 key about once every second for five seconds after turning the computer on.

All Acer netbooks have a factory install image on a hidden partition of the hard disk. Suggest you should re-install the original windows xp factory image. All user data on the C: drive will be cleared by Acer eRecovery which you would start up as follows....
1. have the netbook connected to its AC adapter which is plugged into AC power line
2. power on the netbook and watch the screen as it starts up
3. when the acer logo is showing, hold down the Alt key and press F10 repeatedly
4. until screen indicates Acer eRecovery is loading
5. once eRecovery is loaded, follow the directions given on the screen

F10 at startup

Yes for windows recovery and startup options press "F8" repeatedly during boot to provide you with other options.

On most laptops F10 is usually to either change the actual boot option (cd, floppy, hard drive, etc.) or to enter a system wide recovery process that would restore the laptop to its original condition and also wipe any information you may have on it.
