The LED is green and it blinks until the picture come back and them it turns to a solid green. TV tier is not set.

  • joea42 Feb 20, 2008

Yes I am home. I have tested everything except for pulling the red wire on the power supply. I am not comfortable doing this.

maybe I wasn't clear. I never get a RED Flashing LED. I can be watching a TV show and all of a sudden the pictures goes blank, the GREEN power LED is flashing like someone turned the TV on. It goes a solid GREEN and then I can watch the TV show again. this happen all night long and I finally turned the TV off. It was too painful to watch.

You could test to see if the HV splitter is the problem by disconnecting the HV anode (big red wire) from the flyback transformer (not the splitter since that will arc), unplug the tv,power it up, and if the power stays on and you hear sound, replace the HV splitter to fix the problem.

If you unplug the tv, let it sit overnight and wear gloves while removing the big red wire from the flyback transformer, it will be safe. Plug the tv back in and then see if it stays on.
If you would rather no do that then you should call a qualified technician, possibly one from fixya, if there is one in your area.

Probably a cold solder joint in the high output power supply. This happens when hot /cold expansion/contraction eventually breaks a solder bond on the component board. cost about 80pounds/$125 to fix it

Hi,

Have you check the sleep timer? It could be possible reason why your tv shut off every 30mins. bc the timer was set.

The LED blinks when the TV is turned on, then shuts off when the picture is displayed.

If the red LED blinks continously this may indicate the TV need service.

When Lit, indicates that the timers is set. When the timer is set, this LED will remain lit even the TV turned off.

It is likely that the power supply is failing. It tries to start and powers up briefly then shuts down.

Sony Grand Wega KDF-60XS955 Picture comes on and then goes off.

You have a bad lamp. Sometimes when the lamp gets old, it doesn't fail and open like they usually do. Instead, the reflector gets cloudy, and instead of reflecting the light, it converts it into heat. As the lamp heats up, it draws more power, eventually to the point where the TV senses it drawing too much power and shuts down, going into a reset cycle. replace the lamp and use an original Sony lamp, as the aftermarket lamps are known trouble makers. Be sure to rate this solution. Thanks!

Sony LCD Projection TV turning OFF!!!

I also have a Sony KDF-42WE655 42" Lcd television. We just changed the lamp (bulb) several weeks ago and has noticed that everytime we turn on the television it stays on about 30-40 seconds then cuts off. After about 15-20 seconds it cuts itself back on. Weird!! It must have something to do with changing the bulb!?!?

TV Picture Goes Black

I had the same exact problem.
I removed the bulb and cleaned it. There is a small screen at the top of the bulb and it was covered with dust. Once it was cleaned I replaced the bulb and it solved the problem.
Thanks to those who posted the solutions

TV shuts down

Remove the lamp assembly, There will be a screen on the top and bottom of the assy remove all dust from these screens. also check the tube at the top of of the lamp receptical this is an air cooling pathway. reassemble and fire it up. This worked for me and saved some serious coin judging from some of the other solutions I have seen (lamp and balast) ouch!!!
