Door catch broken - door will not close. no sign of a broken piece. There was a bang and the catch just doesn't hold at all. door swings open

Door catches.

One of the latches has broken off and is not lifting the other latch clear of the housing. Remove from any power source, remove the cover of the cabinet. Slacken off the clamp mechanism and ease the clamp over the guide to allow the door to open. When a new door lever is in place, the door may be easily adjusted by slackening off the screws that clamp the door catch/actuators in place whilst holding the door closed and then tightening the screws. The rear of the door may be adjusted by slackening the lower door hinge screws and adjusting as required.
I hope that helps.

Door switches

If one of the door interlock switches is not switching properly, that can cause the turntable/light to come on even though the "Starts" button has not been depressed due to the wiring of the switches.
Check for faulty door switches and/or contaminated actuators.
I hope that helps.

Oven door not closing properly

If it is a drop down door with hinges on the bootom of the oven door, then it is likely to be weak door hinge springs, the usual solution is to replace both hinges.
If it is a swing open door, then the problem is related to a worn or broken door catch, or worn striker pin.

Just fitted a new door interlock on my hotpoint but the close door msg keeps appearing. Any ideas?

Could be a weak door spring, or worn or cracked catch, meaning that it is not latching in properly, try activating the door lock with a screwdriver or similar if you can, if still no joy, then could be a board or cumminication prob between boards
please rate my solution.
Thanks.

My washer door will not lock in order for the washer to run and wash the clothes. I took off the planel and unplugged everything and nothing elses works. what should I do?

take the door off and have a look at the door catch, its on a spring and a pin in side the door.
replace it if needs be
if the catch is faulty it will not catch inside the interlock catch properly so it wo'nt let the washer work for safety.

I have a hotpoint few12 washing machine and have just replaced the interlock door lock as door locked indicator kept flashing even though door was closed, sometimes happened mid cycle, and had to open...

hi
check the spring on the door handle/catch,the easiest way to check this if you close the door and it indicates that the door hasnt locked, push the inner part of the handle towards the machine,if it locks then the spring is worn.(this is more commen than the interlock).

Indesit IDL500 door wont close properly, catch appears to be the problem?

A lever inside the door lock is attached to a spring. If the lever or spring is broken, it wont lock.

Hotpoint aquarius 1000wm 20 I have to bash front door to start

I do not think it is the door lock that is faulty, more likely to be a weak or broken door spring or broken door catch.
I would replace these first, and then if it is still the same, then replace the door lock.
To replace the spring and or handle catch, undo all the screws that secure the 2 halves of the door, and prize apart the 2 halves,
Replace the spring and catch, reassemble the door.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.
