Vauxhall combo epic 1.7 Y(01) battery light

I have a vauxhall combo Y(01), It would run for 3 days and then die, I got the battery and the alternator checked. Ended up getting a new alternator, after three days died again. Realised the battery light wasn't lighting up when ignition was turned so replaced the bulb and everything was fine. Untill roughly two weeks, They said oil from the vac pumps must have got in and killed the alternator, which was replaced free of charge under guarantee. Now two weeks i have driven down from doncaster to derbyshire popped into tesco, started van up and battery light came on eventually went out after alot of flashing. This is the same way it went last time when the garage said it was oil from the vac pumps. Surely there must be another reason for this reacurrance?? Any ideas.
Update-
No charge relay seems to be on this van even though vauxhall says so, today we have found a yellow relay which is clicking when the battery light goes on and off in the process of replacing it. Any other ideas??

The yellow relay is a red herring, its the glow plug relay just clicking as the current is trying to find another path to earth,id say its a dodgy regulator on alternator, but possible the light goe through the time circuit of the relan start up but id suspect regulator,

remove the belt so the alternator does not work and run engine and see if the revs are normal. if they are the alternator regulator has gone or the diode board in the alternator. if still the same the dashboard controller has a problem.

My 1988 mx6 mazda car starting dying out plus battery light was on...I got a new battery. It ran tor two days, than it died out on me AGAIN! NOW it won't start.unless I get a jump, it runs for maybe 20...

Hi
If you have a new battery and it dies it means that the alternator is bad. The alternator is what replentishes the battery and run the car while you drive it. A simple test is as follows start the car, while the motor is running discinnect the (red) positive cable from the battery. The motor should continue to run....If it shuts off it means that the alternator is bad. The battery is only used to start the car! After its started it runs off of the alternator which also constantaly recharges your battery. Have any questions email me at jackdouglass@comcast.net

I boost the battery, and it does hold a charge but only for a day or a day and a half at most. I'm not sure what could be causing this problem. The battery was purchased Last year brand new, but sat all...

if the battery holds the charge for a day or 2 wile you drive the car normally then you should check your alternator live the car 2 or 3 days after the battery was charged and check if it starts and run if it does run it another 2 or 3 days and see if the battery dies if it dies most likely your alternator is bad, your mechanic can test it with in 3 minutes to see if it is the alternator or the battery

I want to change front brake pads on a vauxhall combo epic 775 1.7d.I am not very mechanically orientated. Please ignore the product as vauxhall was not in the drop down menu.

If you are not mechanically minded you should not be attempting to change brake parts. If you really want to do the job yourself then get a workshop manual and study it before doing anything. Best of luck!

My vauxhall combo battery light keeps coming on and drains battery after few days. tried a new battery and same happened. fizzing sound near fuse box. Any idea what the problem might be?

I might have a similar problem, I brought the van 2001 combo 1.7. Put a new battery on earths have been checked new alternator, still killed the battery, Realised the battery light wasn't coming on when turning ignition, changed the bulb and was fine for about a month then the battery light started flashing. I have a relay (yellow) near the bonnet release which is clicking. I would strongly suggest checking the output of the alternator before considering replacing. www.willstar@gmail.com is my email address if you manage to figure your problem out please let me know as it might help me from pulling my hair out.

BATTERY DIES OUT IN 2-3 DAYS.

are you saying that you got this battery from autozone? I went thru three batteries in a week from autozone because the lot# was bad. It,'s quite possible that you have either a short that is draining the battery or that the alternator isnt charging properly. To do a fast check, start the car then remove the positive battery cable with the car running. If it stays running, theres a chance its ok. If it dies, It's most likely the alternator or the voltage regulator Diods. On most cars, the voltage regulator is built into the alternator. I would take it to autozone and have the charging system checked
