Getting a 4 DD Switch Reading on my 1998 Jeep Cherokee. What is it trying to tell me.

That could be telling you the engine computer is not getting power when you turn the key on. Have you tested the asd relay ?

If it is not still in 4 wheel drv then i wouldn't worry about it as long as you know that its out of 4 wheel drv.

It sounds like your water pump is going out. Water pumps have a weep hole on them and when the seal is going out it will start leaking. Also you shouldn't have any play on the pulley.

the vehicle wouldn't run without the computer, it may be the code reader is not set up for your vehicle, especially if its a general reader

If your in 4 low be sure to shift into nuetral first. Otherwise try backing up while shifting to 2 wheel drive

Hi Ins,

No need to take apart the reservoir just yet. You'll see two pumps attached to the reservoir, one front, one rear.

Just switch the plugs. Then try the rear washer switch, it should spray up front. That will tell you if the pump is bad or not.

The fuses for the wipers and the pumps are under the drivers dash, left kick panel.
