Question about Canon PIXMA MP530 All-In-One InkJet Printer
I had this problem. Removed both ink cartridges and carefully wiped the contacts and print nozzles with a tissue. Re-inserted cartridges and printer now works perfectly.

Sounds like the 'chip' fitted to the Cartridge has been damaged .. is the Cartridge light 'on' ? (or blinking ?) = if the light is out, chances are it's the chip .. if so, the only solution seems to be to buy a genuine Canon replacement (comes with a new chip).
If the light is on or blinking, there may be a software solution (search the Web for 'Canon printer Service Mode' )

Remove the black cart. and replace it with a new one
that's the best way to keep your printer working perfectly
