Is the engine really overheating ? Hook up scan tool an see what temp. sensor is telling PCM / ECM . Did you use
Infrared Thermometer Temperature Gun to see real temp. of the engine ? GM vehicles from 2003 to 2005 had issues with bad stepper motors in instrument clusters ,could show over heating when is really not .

Hello Disconnect the speakers and switch ON the set without any load. If it overheats at this condition too, the internal circuit has some trouble and need repair. If do not overheat at this condition, check the speaker wires for any short with the chasis. If the speakers connected have low impedence than suggested, the set will overheat. For more details on speker impedence, go to the specification page of the user manual to your set. OK.
I have 4 dead MW heat guns with the same problem. The most common problem is a blown fuse in the heating element assembly which prevents the circuit from being completed. It is attached inline with the Red wire. Test the fuse with an Ohm meter, then use a jumper cable to temporarily jump the fuse. The fan and heater should then work. Replace the fuse and you will have a working heat gun
Yes, this model has a thermal cut out and you are correct in thinking that this is the reason why the dryer cuts out and will not re-start for a while.
However, although it's possible that the thermal cut out is faulty, the more likely and common cause is a failed thermostat. If the thermostat fails in the closed (on) position, it means that there is constant power to the heating element. This will cause the dryer to overheat and the thermal cut out will trip to prevent damage to the dryer. A correctly functioning thermostat opens and closes to switch power to the heating element on and off to keep the dryer at a roughly constant temperature.
With out the thing plugged in with an OHM meter the heting element can be checked with the nose removed. Most of the time once the nose is removed the problem is easy to see the end is burnt off the element connection. Remake the connection reinstall the nose and test. The heating element runns right off the switch and the connection there is easy to see with the handle opened. This is simple unit and wires burnt off from being too hot is almost always the problem. look it over carfully and the problem will be seen.
check your vents and lint trap. there is an overheat sensor that will cut out power to your element. also there is an overheat fuse which may blow (cheap and easy to replace) but there would be no heat at all and in some models the dryer won't even turn on it it blows. so this is not likely
try to clean the fans inside. No need to open case. Use an air blower to blow away dirt from the fans and heatsinks.
If that don't solve your problem, the cpu heat-sing or heat-pipe may be not seated properly. You may need professional assistance.
