Phillips Receiver issue

Hi, I am hoping you can help me out with something I posted back in July and have no resolution to. "no picture no sound' is my post I cut/paste it below for you to take a look at. thank you in advance for your help. posted by dsjbk on Jul 26, 2007 Report abuse
You can turn on tv and both lights are green. Top left corner of the tv says no signal. Sometimes the tv will shut itself off and the tv only, goes to red light. Unable to get picture and sound. I've ran a whole new cable line direct and still same problem. I've tested another tv and cable line works fine.??? Any suggestions? Philips TV model 42FD9954 and E Box model is FTR9965.

Thank you for any help!!
Comment by dsjbk, posted on Jul 31, 2007 I have taken the monitor and the e-box to a repair shop. Found out so far the monitor is good. The problem seems to be the E-box.
They are trying to find out what in the box has gone bad. No signal!!

SOURCE: Phillips FTR9965 / 12s

The no signal message is there because the screen is waiting for a signal from the receiver, it then switches into protection mode (flashing red). The usual cause is a blown protection fuse inside the receiver.

Pioneer vsx-5231 not pairing with Phillips bdp-2175 smart bluray player

have you tried to connect the Philips direct to the TV's hdmi?

Could be the resolution on the bluray is set to 1080p which may be out of range for the receiver or even the TV for that matter. If you can reset the output resolution of the bluray to 480p first, just to establish a picture then try 720P which all HD tv's and receivers can handle.

I did a quick search and could not find the resolution reset procedure for this unit. Other units will reset if you press and hold 2 or more buttons together.

Hi my nameis Mike Houston of DISH Network and I see that something got zapped in an electricalstorm. If there is an issue with the DVR playing back choppy and the channelsare hard to change there are something's that can be done to resolve thisissue. Press the buttons of Menu-6-1-1 and then select Check Switch and pressTest, after all test complete select done two times and select Cancel threetimes and the receiver will reacquire the signal and download the Program Guideand your programming will come back. After your picture comes back please trythe functions that were having the issue(s). And if the issue still persistsplease e-mail me at michael.houston@dishnetwork.com.

Tv (plasma) made loud pop then went black, turned off still no picture but has sound through different channels. Happened before and dish said to reset box? thanks

That's an interesting issue you posted, yfz45011959! Try unplugging the receiver's power cord from the outlet for at least ten seconds and then plugging it back in. If that doesn't fix the problem, let me know what type of receiver you have. The model can be found on the front panel in the bottom left corner.

Hope that helps!

My receiver said check sp wire because it is turning of every time

look like you have speakers wires connection issue.
Here is what you can do:
speaker input connector (where attach wires from receiver) 1 is negative and 1 positive post.
Check your receiver output wires positive wires must go to position post in the back of speakers same as negative wire from receiver connect to negative post in the back of your speakers.
Some receiver allow you mix match connection but you will not get good quality sound (low performance)
Hope it help

HDMI connection with Panasonic DMP-BD35K Blu-Ray Disc Player

Try hooking the Panasonic up straight to the tv without going through the receiver. If it displays a picture its obviously not the blu-ray player. May also be a problem with the HDMI cable itself. Hope this helps.

My screen has gone massive and the colours have gone negative. help me?.................. x

Hi,

That sounds like your video card has gone back into VGA mode, 16 colours and a screen resolution of 640 x 480.

Go into the display settings and try setting the resolution to something like 1024 x 768 and the colour to 32 bit (16 million colours).

If the adjustment cannot be made, it is likely you have a graphics card driver issue. Find out what graphics card or chip you have and download a new driver from the manufacturers website.

Hope this helps.

sounds like something in the regulator circuits blowing the fuse. I can post alink where you can get a service manual as well as free support to help you figure it out. Your set is coverd in the DPTV305 series phillips magnavox on page 2 of the phillips section for 10.99 and they email them instantly if you want one.
