You can use a universal remote, but it's a little tricky. I have a phillips universal remote and I have to keep switching between 2 codes to get the menu up and then navigate through. There is nothing on the TV to fix it.

I went to SharpUSA online and read the manual and there is no mention of being able to reset without the remote. I guess you are using a universal remote at the moment. The manual does mention a default password that you can use if you forgot your password.
Depending on the model sequences can be slightly different, firstly you must be able to access the "Menu" button on the TV, as well as the arrow and "Enter" buttons. These buttons are typically located on the left side panel of the TV.and may be the buttons for Prog + or - or Volume up or down . Generally speaking the samesequence of buttons you press to scan for channels are identical to those you press when using a remote. Play around with combinations and see what they do but dont dont hit the enter button until your happy that you know what it is doing, write down the sequences and button combinations so yo remember them for next time.
Step 1: Press the "Menu" button, press the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to highlight "TV" menu and press the "Menu" button again to enter the TV menu.
Step 2: Press the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to select "Tuner Mode" and press the "Left" and "Right" arrow buttons to select the frequency band depending whats connected to your TV. (digital box or aerial)
Step 4:Press the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to select "Auto Search" and press the "Menu" button to scan for all channels that are available in your area.
SAP, Mono, Stereo, Etc. You should be able to switch this from your remote. Even universal remotes should have this button to adjust sounds. Otherwise you need to go into the TV menu (not the remote) and change it from there. The only way you can change it on those channels is to switch manually. Happens a lot on these older TVs. No worries. Very common.
On many sets, the audio channel can be switched by remote control or through a SAP switch located around the tuning panel or "on screen programming." Usually, there is a setting labeled SAP, AUDIO SELECT, B-AUDIO, MTS, or MENU. By changing the setting, you should be able to select SAP. Not all TV sets are alike, so you might want to check your instruction manual for all the details.
Do you have the original remote? it will look like the one here:http://www.remotes.com/remotes/servlet/rs?a=gmi&smodel=B27TF680&brand_pn=RCA_B27TF680&mode=large&uid=11758883061400 If you do not have the original remote you will not be able to switch off the SAP setting, without it as there is a button that controls the sound. when this button is pressed you see where to turn off the SAP setting. Good Luck
