False alarm. The pressure control switch just needed to be adjusted using set screw on top.

I have a Kobalt 10 gal, 1.5 hp air compressor. It has a digital display. It does not show anything in the display and keeps running until relief valve pops. I tried to find a new pressure switch but no...

Abandon the display and install a generic pressure switch at a convenient port. Example. Remove the safety valve and install a tee fitting. Re-install the safety on one port of the tee and a pressure switch on the second port. Generic pressure switch on Ebay is about $15 dollars. The pressure switch usually has other ports to install gauge and quick fittings. Will not look pretty but will work nicely. Good luck

The pressure switch shuts the motor off when a designated pressure is reached. If you took that unit off then it wont shut off and builds pressure until the safety valve opens.

My D55141 heavy duty 2gal (7.6L) 150 psi max builds pressure up to around 150 releases pop off valve then keeps running, what causes this problem?

The pressure switch is either out of adjustment or has failed. The compressor should shut off at a much lower pressure than the safety valve (~100 psi)

Ridgid mobil airpressure switch trouble

This condition will occur when the in-tank check valve is stuck open. Pressure from the tank increases load on the motor by flooding the pump with tank pressure not allowing motor to start thus reset opens. Easy test. Run compressor for one minute then unplug cord from wall. Remove hose at the check valve and test for leak with soapy water. If leaking remove valve and attempt cleaning or replace with generic valve. Cost about $20. Good luck.

When the unit is on and building pressure, the safety valve goes off before it reaches the factory set 150psi pressure. I then lose most of the air and it starts over until the safety valve releases again...

The pressure switch (on / off switch) must be adjusted or has failed. A qualified Bostitch Technician can determine if the switch can be adjusted or must be replaced. Each model is different and without the model number I cannot give you a more precise answer.

Compressor won't shut off at upper limit runs until safety valve opens

The pressure switch is either set at too high a pressure, or it is not working properly. Has it been replaced recently? There is a possibility that the wrong switch was installed, check this as well.

Pop off valve on return line leaking compressor keeps running turn compressor off stops leaking whats up?

Once the pop off valve reaches its opening point, it will stay open as long as the pressure is above that point. When you shut the compressor off, the pressure leaks down until the pop off valve closes. Sounds like the pressure regulator is set a little too high. If you can turn the regulator switch down, it should fix it.

The compressor relief valve keeps popping, compressor runs

What pressure is it popping off at? You might have to adjust the pressure switch to a lower setting.

Cut off switch problem

The pressure switch will trip off when the compressor reaches the rated setting (usually 120 ~150psi). If the compressor keeps running untill the safety pops releasing air (usually about 160psi) then the switch is most likely problem. I use SquareD switch from However if the compressor keeps running but never pops the safety and only reaching around 90 to 100psi, then you could have several other issues including: leaking fittings (check with soapy water), worn cylinder and piston (on oilfree compressor examine cylinder from below and look for scratches), leaking valves on oil type compressor. Please email with your finding and any questions Good Luck

Air compressor does not regulate pressure to set point.

Emglo airmate compressors are set from the factory to shut off at around 125psi. There is an adjustment (remove cover to pressure switch) that will controll the cut-off pressure but it is not recommended changing the factory setting. There is also a safety valve installed that will open at about 160psi. It is a small brass device with a pull ring. When things go wrong with the pressure switch (rectangular box with power cord coming out of one side) the safety will pop open. There is a pressure regulator with round knob on panel that will lower the pressure to the tool, however this regulator does not control the pressure switch. Let you compressor run untill it shuts off and verify pressure to be about 125, if it is then all as well. Good Luck
