How many times have you tried to install Windows XP? What kind of hard drive do you have? Are you reformatting your hard drive because of virus' or performance issues?

You need to check your hardware because the interrupted installation of winxp means there is a hard ware problem, if you have an extra memory card try replacing this. the other reasons why it won't continue the installation is that your video cad might be very low memory, you should have at least 32mb and the other one is your hard drive. you can check this by clicking repair then type chkdsk on dos prompt

SOUND, AUDIO MISSING OR NOT WORKING CORECTLY WILL NOT PLAY CD OR DVD BUT SAYS THEY ARE WORKING PROPERLY. WILL SHOW VIDIO "NEWS" TV SHOWS BUT NO SOUND PAID FOR 17 UPDATE DRIVERS WITH DRIVER DETECTIVE TO FIX...

though itz unclear to me of wat os u r using..
assuming that u r using win xp pro sp2..n directx installed..
check if Audio device is enabled in bios..

howevr, download microsoft kb888111 update n install it..u need to re-install or update the device driver (may b manually)..logon to internet n seek the package/audio driver..along wid the company, there will b a list of such site n driver download links if u search by the model name on a search engine like google..
download them onto a location; if the driver is in a zip format, unzip it,if itz in .exe form, just run it; if done manually it'll ask for the correct driver and location; relocate the path and a .inf file (wat it'll ask for)....goto the device manager n verify, if installed properly..!!
also download n install k-lite mega codec pack....

if not fixed try using a standby pci snd card (in such case it'll b a confirmed case of ur system board is likely to b defective)..
but always better to consult ur system admin/vendor....

Sound Drive Problem in ASUS PSGC MX 1333

  1. Remove all previously installed Realtek drivers
  2. Reinstall the UAA driver (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/888111/en-us)
  3. Reboot
  4. Install the Realtek driver again
This is a very common issue with realtek drivers.

You might have to try this a few times since you have to be really quick,

Set CD Drive as first device in the boot sequence. Press F10 then chose "Y" to save.

1. Put your old XP CD in and reboot.

2. After reboot if asked if you want to start on cd chose yes.

4. delete partiton 1 on your C: hard drive

5. create new partition

6. Start installation and format the c:drive

7. Follow the installation instructions,,,

Hope this helps.

AHCI

choose RAID mode.. that should enable AHCI. (as per wikipedia) on your motherboard so that means.. that if you're installing the os on this hdd you may want to use the raid driver for it which is likely what's in the ASUS cd you got so your os get to use the hdd as it's meant to be used.

you may also want to make sure you're using the right sata connector on your motherboard: check page 33

http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5B-VM

the problem could laso lay in your cables.. it's know the average may be affected by faulty SATA cable or faulty SATA power cable (powersupply issue)

you may also want to run a backup of your data and then run a defrag and a checkdisk on the drive, and it's probably also worth it to rung Seatools (download from this page: http://www.seagate.com/www/en-us/support/downloads/ ) to check the health of your hd.

Also try to update the SATA controller drivers or the motherboard chipset
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=P5B-VM

lastly, post the results of your tests here on fixya or better yet: in here: http://forums.seagate.com for further follow up.

try each recommendation one at a time and then test the speed of your hd to see if there's improvement.. make sure you back up before you do anything drastic.

good luck (it took me 2 hours to pos
