You can secure your wireless network wit WEP or WAP code.
For that Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link.
http://192.168.0.1
or
http://192.168.1.1
For belkin router http://192.168.15.1
or
http://192.168.2.1

If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it.
Then it ask for user name and password.
Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank.
Then you can see configuration page of router.
Click on wireless settings then enable WEP Security then add WEP code .It is your password to connect wi fi.Then save settings and restart router.
Then you can connect your wi fi network with that code.
Let me know if you need further assistance.
Thanks for using FixYa.

You don't need the disk. You should be able to log-in to the web interface of the router at this URL: http://192.168.0.1/

If you don't remember the password, you'll have to reset the router to factory defaults and then log-in with password "admin".

Many routers have a hole in them; stick a paper clip in, and it will reset itsef to its defaults. Go to linksys online to get the info you need--it will tell you it's default settings, and you can download the instructions. If you have DSL cable, the router will detect its settings automatically. Remember to encrypt it, or any one of your neighbors can use it to connect to the internet wirelessly. You won't have to bother if you connect through a cable to your pc.

1. if you haven't done it yet go to the manufacturers site and see if there is a firmware update.
2. here is a set of instructions to follow for all wireless routers.
1.Log into router. Using either 192.168.0.1 to 192.168.1.1 in a browser window that is ( internet Explorer or Firefox)
2. Verify wireless router name( on the computer) >>> ( on/off) ( router status window)
3.Note router name you are connecting to.
4.. Check the laptop do ipconfig /all to see current IP addresses.
5. Set the laptop up in the router by WEP KEY or MAC address. This set up in the "security tab" in the router. using 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1 to access through a browser.

9. cell phones, cordless phones, digital TV's, can affect the data signal from a router. Also distance from the router can be a factor. If your router is in a basement place the router to a upper floor and center it in the room.
Some ISP have bandwidth caps . if you have exceeded this you may not have connectivity. Check with you ISP ( Internet Service Provided).

Linksys WRK54G versus WRT54G Firmware

Hi...

The WRK54G is actually a stripped down version of the WRT54G that was bundled with a wireless network adapter and sold under the kit name WKPC54G.

From what you say in your question I gather that you have a WRT54G already in place as your access point, and it is what is connected to your WAN. To use the WRK54G as a range extender repeater you should do the following:

1. Turn off DHCP
2. Turn off NAT
3. Assign a fixed IP that is in your Class C Block
4. Define the WRT54G as the Gateway

With this configuration it now should function as an extender/repeater, and any clients connecting to it will be serviced by the DHCP on the master router.

I hope that this helps.
